A proper imperial stout brewed with chocolate & caramel malts, and dark roasted barley. The flavour is immediately rich and chocolatey, giving way to espresso notes. It finishes with a great waft of citrus from a generous blend of our favourite hops.

Bottle at home. Aroma is dark malt, chocolate, Brett funk (infection?), fruity hops, citrus, some coffee. Flavour is moderate sweet and above moderate bitter. Body is medium. Probably infected, judging by the other ratings. May have to rerate one day. Still tasty though.

Bottle from Beer52. Pours black with moderate sized beige head. Aroma of roasted malts and coffee with a slightly softer chocolate and spicy hops. Nice smooth malts, moreish chocolate with a brioche bread note to it, bitterness then kicks in with roast and coffee and a touch of spice. Thumbs up from me.

[33cl bottle from Beer52 at 5% ABV.] A glossy black pour with a thick beige coloured headed; coffee aroma; strongly bitter taste with coffee followed by chocolate, then toasted malts, and finally red fruit; leading to a rather tart fruity finish with lingering chocolate. An assertive stout.

Bottle from Beer 52 - at 5%. Pours a very dark reddish brown with a small beige head. Dark chocolate is the mainstay in the aroma, with some malts to accompany it. Roasted malts are the strong immediate sensation in the mouth, quickly followed by chocolate and bitter coffee ground. There’s hints of dark fruits underneath as well. Finish is profoundly bitter with chocolate coating the tongue as well. This is good – got a definite kick to it.

Foamy tan head stayed on a dark mahogany coloured still body. Malt, roasted & bitter aroma. Medium bodied, smooth on the tongue with a short dry back. Coffee, malt, chocolate, roasted & tangy citrus tastes with a very bitter finish. Cleans the mouth out.
