Nein. Zuallererst. The Padawan ist nicht nach Star Wars benannt. Die Namensgleichheit ist reiner, wenn auch keinesfalls unerwünschter Zufall. Padawan heißt „Pale Ale doing alright without a name“ und wurde 2014 in einem Online-Voting zum Biernamen für ein namenloses Bierol Pale Ale ernannt. Heute ist The Padawan nicht nur schon Klassiker sondern auch die Nr 1. der Core Range. Und das hat seinen Grund: Denn The Padawan ist irre fruchtig, irre samtig und hat alles was ein Pale Ale braucht: Die richtige Dosis (und die ist natürlich nicht gerade klein) an qualitativ hochwertigem Hopfen, ein feines, ja schon fast cremiges Mundgefühl, schlank im bernsteinfarbenen Körper und a bisserl trocken im Finish. Aber allem voran: Mango. In der Nase, am Gaumen, und es bleibt. Lange. Richtig lange. Spritzig, frisch, schlank und mit deutlicher Bittere. Keinesfalls nur Sommerbier. Unser aller Lieblingsbier!

Many thanks to Werckmeister for this bottle! Blood orange in the nose, mandarina, fresh floral hops. The beer starts very intense floral, lots of pine, nice bittered with not a too sweetish body. Intense floral-sticly-piney. Great fruity fresh aftertaste, smooth, fresh. Great!

Bottle [from Euro Swap 2015-1 thanks to Sebilinz] @ home. Clear orange golden color, medium to full sized white head that lasts for a long time. Aroma is lightly malts, nicely fruity, fruit hops, tropical fruits. Taste lightly malts, decently hoppy, decently bitter, lightly fruity. Decent body and carbonation. Nice fruity pale ale.

Sehr trübe goldene Farbe, schöne weiße Schaumkrone. Geruch grasig, hopfig, fruchtig. Geschmack fruchtig hopfig, grasig, gering bitter, lecker!

Bottle. Aroma tropical fruits, maracuja, tangerine. Murky golden colour. Taste is lychee kick up front, tropical whirlwind in the middle, finishes dry bitter hoppy. The only fault is a bit too thin body, but on the other hand that makes for an extremely drinkable beer. Very good.

Bottle from Beer Store Vienna. Nice citrus, spicy hoppy aroma. Hoppy taste with oranges, orange zest, spices, tropical fruit. Solid malty backbone. Medium long light hoppy bitter finish. Good.

03.01.2015: bottle at home. orange hazy color, white fast disappearing head. smells very fruity, passion fruit, mango, light grapefruit. light body, fruits taste of grapefruit, good acidity, some sweetness, medium bitter finish.

Rerate 21.06.2025: Taster from tap at the brewery. Yellow murky color, small white head. Smells mango, earthy, bit dank, lychee. Nice smell. Medium to full body, soft carbonation. Tastes mango, earthy, peppery, tobacco, lychee, hints of pines. Finishes lightly bitter with notes of mango, light pines and lychee. Nice stuff

Amber, hazy body, with a quite small, creamy, white head.
Very fruity, juicy aroma of citrus, lots of tropical fruits like passion fruit and mango, peach, flowers.
Taste follows this, also very fruity, but not as juicy and adding a smooth biscuit malt backbone.
Medium to light, slick mouthfeel, with a soft carbonation.
Finishes medium bitter, citric, zesty and slightly malty.
Tasty! An easy to drink and quite light bodied, but fully aromatic APA, bursting with fresh and crisp fruits. My favourite beer from this brewery so far and one of the best APAs from Austria!
