330ml bottle. Murky, dark golden to amber colour with huge, frothy, mostly lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head, dark yeast deposit spots. Sweet-ish, fruity aroma with a cherry touch. Taste is bready malty, dusty yeasty, slightly fruity, a bitter sting; lively carbonation.

27/03/2016 - draught @ Estaminet & Brouwerij d’Oude Maalderij. Clear yellow colour with white head. Nose is sweet malts, yeast. Taste is malts (but not sweet as in the taste), grainy, some yeast. Nice easy drinkable beer.

Brewed at ’t Gaverhopke, bottle date 30-9-2015. Some gushing. Cloudy medium orange amber colour, good two finger moussy white head, diminishing mostly small rim remains, light lacing. Aroma malty, grains, light fruity (peach, apricot, apple), yeast. Taste medium sweet and bitter, malty, fruity undertones, spicy notes. Sweetbitter aftertaste, light spiciness in the finish, medium body, oily texture, prickly mouthfeel, lively carbonation. So so, I’m not impressed (despite the nice packaging), a rather bland brew.

From a 33 cl bottle, bottled half a year ago. Very serious gusher: the beer just erupted violently from the neck upon opening. Very thick, rocky, moussy, off-white head thinning after a while but remaining stable, colour hazy orange blonde with vivid fizz and a ’fog’ of minute yeast particles suspended throughout the liquid; it becomes murky and cloudy with deposit, but still looking nicely orange. Aroma of sourdough, redcurrant, a lot manure almost ruining it and probably due to bacterial infection, garden weeds, mouldy hazelnuts, dried orange peel, toast, red apple peel, jute, dusty old grains, pineapple, delicate honey sweetness somewhere and floral hops. The taste unmistakably reveals infection, as the gushing and ’dirty sourness’ in the aroma already announced; a coarse, deep sourness overlies crisp, orange- and pineapple-like fruitiness especially in the onset. After that, it does get more mellow, but it remains detectable till the finish. Carbonation is spritzy, mouthfeel soft and fluffy, with bready and toasted malts adorned with curaçao spiciness; finish is yeasty, bready and moderately hoppy, in a deep earthy, subtly peppery, softly bittering way. A certain amount of alcohol warmth is there after swallowing but not present in the taste, but something astringently phenolic, probably linked to the infection, does linger for a while. Residual candi sugar sweetness remains too. Too bad for the infection, the bacterial odour and the violent gushing, could have been a decent beer otherwise. I’ve seen this amount of gushing a lot lately in beers made at Gaverhopke - something is terribly wrong there, that much is clear!

750 ml bottle. Beautiful deep hazy orange, loads of cloudy white foam, dissipating slowly leaving some lacings. Aroma is citrus up-front, then more sweeter tones of bread, vort, again some sour notes of orange and wheat, some well executed yeasty complexity and a dry finish. Medium body, low carbo, soft and dry texture. Solid.

Orange color with white head. Fruity, honey, bready, yeasty aroma. Taste as well. Very sweet. High carbonation. Belgian. Very Belgian, but with a bready body. 6-4-6-3-10 EDIT: Had again, with not as high carbonation and more of an oily mouthfeel. Enjoyed more. 7-3-6-3-14

Bottle shared with Dutchdrebus and Ansjelaah @ Ansjelaah’s birthday party. Lightly unclear yellow to light orange color, medium to full sized white head. Smell and taste malts, yeasty, lightly bitter. Average body, firm carbonation. Pretty disappointing actually.
