The taste is roasted malt, caramel, dark fruit (cherry, blueberry and plum), cocoa and rich-roasted coffee, with a dry finish. Medium body, fine carbonation and creamy mouth-feel. A smooth and well-balanced stout.

thin dry lots of roasty character, but too thin. Not bad. At the brewery it was listed as 4.1%. Could be the change in recipe is not good for the beer.

Draft in Carlsbad. A pitch black beer with a thin lazing tan head. The aroma has notes of sweet malt and roasted malt, the latter lending it a bit of acidity. The flavor is sweet malty combined with roasted notes and light notes of soy sauce and coffee. The body is light.

Sample at the brewpub. Pours dark brown with a ruby halo and a medium and creamy beige head that bubbles away steadily. Thin sheet of lacing on the glass. Light toasted malt and chocolate aroma. Medium, creamy body with flavors of dark chocolate and malt, as well as touches of coffee and hops. The finish is kind of thin and roasty with a light coffee aftertaste. Above average overall, but seems like it should be better.
