Poured into a 500ml Weihenstephan glass. Gorgeous amber/copper pour with a big white head. Loads of banana, clove, and bubblegum. Great yeasty phenols and light citrus. Solid carb, and spot on mouthfeel. Yeasty finish with loads of bananas, and a medium bitter finish. Outstanding example of the style, rivals it’s German counterparts.

Bouteille 650ml.

Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
Cloudy blond color. The aroma is mild, spicy, some cloves. Dry and smooth mouthfeel, ordinary spicy wheat flavor, with correct bitterness; there is a very light residual sweetness that makes it more pleasant to drink.
Not bad.

Initial smell is pungent with yeast. A little wheaty bitter that’s kind of interesting. A tiny bit of citrus. Pours cloudy light brown, beige. Smells more complex than it tastes. Some mild grapefruit astringency. Pretty liquidy taste. Average on the whole. Bottle

A: Slight banana accents with clove and a bit of vanilla; fairly balanced. App:White / yellow color, a bit cloudy. Head is average but long lasting. Banana flavors are dominant with a slight acidity. Clove and cinnamon are also showing. Finish is hoppy but a bit acid. A fairly good hefeweizen but flavors dont stick out much. Little annoying acidity on finish. Acceptable product but Belle Gueule Hefeweizen was far ahead.

Big bomber from the LCBO. Pours a cloudy golden-amber colour with an average head and decent lacing. Mild hefe aroma at first (with bananas and cloves), but then just becomes grainy (wheaty). The taste is pretty mild as well, but at least the hefe notes are there. A little spices in the finish. Creamy and watery mouthfeel. Refreshing, but lacking some character overall.

(650mL bottle from the LCBO). Poured cold, a very hazy medium brownish orange with a very thin white head that left no lacing, very un-hefe and maybe due to lack of bottle conditioning. Aroma was fairly standard hefe, banana, sweet fruity esters, clove, bready wheat, not very strong. Taste started ok if unremarkable, banana, caramel, powdery yeast, but from the mid point on it devolved into eating a bowl of dry raw wheat, maybe with a bit of hops, yeast and flour. Not pleasant or refreshing, I barely got through it. A disappointing hefeweizen.

On tap at the Alibi Room - pours a clouded orange colour. Bold wheaty flavour, with grass and yeast. The best from Tree Brewing, a fine wheat beer.

This beer had this thickest, whitest head I have seen, atop a hazy golden brown brew. I was in admiration. A beautiful nose of bananas and cloves assured me this hefe was special. A well balanced yeasty mouth with banana esters and hints of cloves. Splendid. Well balanced. Finish cleaning and refreshing. Love this beer.
