The Saint Médard Season celebrates this emblematic style of Belgian Hainaut. At the time of farm breweries, we only brewed in winter because industrial cold did not exist. Tradition has it that seasonal beers were brewed at the end of winter with the last stocks of grain to empty the barns but also to water the workers during the harvest "season".
With a dark apricot color, Saint Médard Saison provides a spicy nose, a flavor of caramelized malt and biscuit. It diffuses a dry and fruity flavor accompanied by a moderate and fragrant bitterness.
Yeast Au Baron
Malt: Pale-Ale, Pilsen, Munich, Ruby
Hops: Brewersgold, Halerteau, Strisselspaltz

Bouteille 75cl. BB 20/2014, lot# 48? Ambrée, col blanc fin devenant vite plat.

75 cl. bottle sampled @ RBBWG 2014. Courtesy of & thx! to Sebletitje. Pours orange. Nose is sweet oranges, orange peel, faint lemon peel, lemonade, touch aspirin. Taste is bitter orange peel, caramel, bitter yeast, plastic, aspirin, some sugar, grains, some malts. Sparkling. Okay but not that stellar. I am starting to suspect that Americans are systematically overrating everything that has the non-existing style “Bière de Garde” attached to it. What is the deal with that, too hip to admit that you are over-hyping French saisons?
