Balance! That’s what we were looking for and that’s what we’ve achieved with a round but light beer with a perfect degree of bitterness.
Savour it as an aperitif with friends and tell them how it was born…
Following the relaunch of the brewery in 2003, we have visited many breweries and discussed things with many seasoned or debutant brewers. Memorable visits during which the tendencies for our first beer were chosen: we wanted to produce a blonde beer, with too not strong an alcohol percent, with personality but above all remaining well balanced.
To prevent it from being overly hopped, we had chosen four American hops, coherent between themselves, and subtly dosed. And to give our beer body, we opted for a malt charge of 100% barley malt, without any other cereal, nor any added sugar.
At the end of several months of research, we were finally ready to create a brew in our newly installed brewing room. It took place on 01 May 2004, and Tournay Blonde was born!

A very nice Belgian blonde ale, tasty with just the right amount of bitterness. Bought from Beers of Europe, drank at home.

Light hazy blond colour, white foam. Typical Belgian blond with enough hoppy bitterness. Fruity and light sweet.

Bottle from Drinks Vanuxeem, Ploegsteert, Belgium. Pours a hazy golden colour with a large thick foamy white head. Aromas of ripe yellow and stoney fruits. Taste has more of these notes with some added candy notes, some doughy white bread, peppery spice, a light grassy hop and some sugar on the sweetish finish. Medium body with average carbonation. Decent enough Blonde if maybe a touch too much on the sweet side for my personal preference.

Bottle from Cask Beer Oasis, Crewe – drunk at home. [ NB several years out of date, so review may be skewed ] Pours a cloudy orange-brown with fairly high carbonation. Initial foaming from the bottle, but otherwise very little head at all despite trying. What there is off-white. Aroma has malts, marmalade and grains plus hints of ripe cheese. Initially rather watery in the mouth, but then flavour floods in. Malts, yeast and oranges, plus coriander and hints of other spices. Quite nice but I probably need to rerate with a fresh bottle !

Brilliant white foamy head stayed on a hazy amber coloured body. Belgian yeast & orange aroma. Medium bodied, soft on the tongue with well carbonated back. Belgian yeast, bitter citrus, chalk & lightly spiced tastes with tangy finish. Drinkable.

Thuis uit een flesje. Troebel gouden kleur, roomwit schuim, dat snel inzakt. Goede smaak voor een blond bier, licht bitter. Lekker.
