Balance! That’s what we were looking for and that’s what we’ve achieved with a round but light beer with a perfect degree of bitterness.
Savour it as an aperitif with friends and tell them how it was born…

Following the relaunch of the brewery in 2003, we have visited many breweries and discussed things with many seasoned or debutant brewers. Memorable visits during which the tendencies for our first beer were chosen: we wanted to produce a blonde beer, with too not strong an alcohol percent, with personality but above all remaining well balanced.

To prevent it from being overly hopped, we had chosen four American hops, coherent between themselves, and subtly dosed. And to give our beer body, we opted for a malt charge of 100% barley malt, without any other cereal, nor any added sugar.

At the end of several months of research, we were finally ready to create a brew in our newly installed brewing room. It took place on 01 May 2004, and Tournay Blonde was born!

Bottle: Poured a deep hazy blond color ale with large foamy head with great retention and perfect lacing. Aroma of Belgian malt with some floral hops and a lightly sweet finish. Taste is also dominated by lightly sweet malt with some dry floral hops and a yeasty and bread-like finish. Body is quite full with great carbonation and no alcohol is apparent. I thought this was a nice example for the style but a yeast is a bit too dominating.

Hazy, lemony colour with large foamy head. Aroma is very fresh and mineraly. Flavour has a degree of sharpness at first leading to some soft, fresh hops and a pleasant, dry finish.

750, labeled as "Tournay" - pours a cloudy gold, with a fizzy head that rapidly shrinks to a soapy lace - fairly yeasty nose, with strong sugary sweetness, and potent floral notes - the flavor has a clean, cane sugar sweetness throughout - over the top of that, some hop bitterness makes way for strong flavors of wildflowers, then a wee bit of citrusy tartness - a tiny bit of acidity in the background - that sweetness never really fades though, and it’s awfully strong for a beer of this gravity - if this were more dry, with a more crisp bitterness, it would be great - too sweet.

Hazy blond. Light. Fluffy head. Kind of a footy/fecal yeast nose with lime. Soft, lightly creamy body with plasticy notes. Some almost wheaty tartness breaks up the icing sugar sweetness.

75 cL bottle. Pours hazy orange with a lacing off-white head. Aroma is sweet, yeasty and orange fruity. Sweet caramel flavour followed by a fruity yeast base. Sugarish into the finish. Nothing wrong - but a bit too simple and without any lasting impressions.

(75 cl bottle that my lovely wife bought for me in Denmark)On May 10, 2008Shady orange color, white head. Was a gusher. Sweet, acidic, malty scent. Yeast particles floating around in it. Acidic but fresh malty taste. Moussy mouthfeel, low bitterness.

Bottled (BBE 07/2007). Hazy orange/golden colour with mediumsized white head. Aroma is very fruity, with some mild alcohol and spices/herbs too. Flavour is herbs, some fruits and quite earthy. Some mild sweetness from the alcohol shows. Wellbalanced and easy to drink.
