A speciality in the tradition of the Saxon miners. Strong roasted aromas, a deep black color and a finely balanced hops note make the Black Steiger an experience full of character.

500ml can. Pours clear black with a medium-sized beige head. Aroma is honey and faint roasted malts. Taste is light sweet, muted coffee and roasted malts. Medium bitter finish. Strange. On the one hand it tastes as if it has been watered down, yet on the other hand the bitterness is noticeable. Still, it’s cheap. Acceptable budget Schwarz.

500ml can as Feldschlößchen Black Beer. Pours clear dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma is bread, buckweat, wort. Taste is dry, burnt bread, malt, light bitterness. Light bodied. Similar to a non-alcoholic dark beer. Strange.

Draft @ Antik Kunst Cafe, Dresden. Black with shades of red and brown and a small and short-lived white/beige head. Aroma of (roasted) malts and caramel. Taste of dark bread, malts, caramel and pumpernickel with hints of liquorice. Dry finish. Balanced. Low to medium carbonation. Very süffig and nice. Feels like a bastard child of a Schwarzbier and a Dunkel.

Aroma of roasted malt and raisins. Almost neutral taste with only a hint of roasted malt and chocolate. Thin beer with a slight bitter finish. Nice and easy to drink schwarzbier that lacks character.
