Previous name: "Winter Bock".

0.33L bottle labeled as doppelbock, light smallish head. Clear light brown colour with reddish taints, aroma of honey drops with herbal hoppy notes and touches of vanila, Suprisingly strong hoppy bitterness with some honey and dried fruits sweetness, dry sweet and sour aftertaste. Thin, light bodied doppelbock that is way too hoppy.

(screw cap bottle, as “Doppel Bock”, courtesy of Koelschtrinker) Clear, mahogany colour with a short and beige-coloured foamy head. Sweet and slightly toasted malty nose with a tinge of caramel and light spicy (anise) and perfumed hoppy notes. Sweet flavour with a shy bitterness, full bodied with a soft carbonation. Toasty, slightly roasted malty taste with caramel; sweet and slightly bitter-toasty with a delicate hops-character. Unexciting but drinkable Doppelbock (06.08.08).

Screw-cap bottle: Amber coloured with a stable, fluffy off-white head; a bit alcoholic, a bit fruity, a bit caramelly in the nose; moderate sweet-bitter flavour, quite light bodied for a beer of 18°; gets a bit more heavier in the sweetish-fruity and dark-malty finish. Very restrained Boppel-Dock...........

Screwtop! Pours light brown into a stem glass. Off-white head quickly recedes to coat surface. Dark caramel and toffee aromas. Smoky toffee upfront, more carbonated than most. A little less sweet as well.

Bitterer Start, hopfiger und malziger werdend. Die Malzigkeit beißt sich trotz der Milde fest und wird zum Nachgeschmack etwas stärker. Zum Ende röstiger und würziger. Test vom 5.1.2008, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 11,10,10,9,9,10 - 9,90

My first screw cap bottle. The cherry is broke. Pour is a dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is small amounts of caramel malt and not much else. Flavor is a bit of dark fruit and a wet hop. Some malts come up at the end but nothing to make this one to look for. Pretty poor for the style and it comes from the fatherland!
