13/04/2011 33cl bottle @ home - BB: 07/10/12 (2011-147)

Note: it shouldn't have come as a surprise after having had the same experience with the Blonde, but it did anyway as the gusher started pouring upon opening.

Dark purple and pretty cloudy beer, huge towering beige head. Appears aery and fragile at first, but then turns to a more solid, even creamy texture. Non adhesive. Aroma: lots of overripe to even rotting bananas, bit chemical, other ripe to rotten fruits, a faint hint of hops. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: overripe bananas, cloves, a little hoppy towards the end. Aftertaste: more overripe bananas, some mocha hint, still the cloves again, a bit of hops and sugary caramel. Bit cloying. Totally out of balance.

bouteille 33cl.

Yellowish head, dwindling over hazy, dark-chestnut coloured beer. Pure speculoos spices, as allspice, clove, cinnamon, star aniseed, etc. Spiced, dark malts, oversweet chocolate, liquidized speculoos. Well-bodied, rich MF, perfumed but little real flavour outside the spices. Typical Ecaussinnes.

Bottled. An unclear brown beer with lots of yeast sediment floating around under a brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with an acidic edge. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, spices, and vegetables as well as light notes of wood, leading to a dry and slightly acidic finish.

Blind tasting at Papsø’s, corked bottle
Brown color, with some floating particles; small head. Herbal aroma, with vegetables, light cinnamon and lemon; flawed. Sourish mouthfeel, caramel and vegetables flavor, astringent. Very bad.
