Powerhouse is named in association with our local landmark Battersea Power Station. We brew with a combination of brown, chocolate, crystal and pale malts and hop with a blend of Fuggles, Boadicea, Challenger and Fuggles. Powerhouse Porter has a rich, dark chocolate flavour and an aroma of toasted malt and winter fruits.

Bottle at home, 01/06/14, from ABM. Rich chestnut brown with a moderate light tan covering that dissipates and retains as a swirl and edgework. Nose is light roast, brown bread, tobacco, grain, earthy cocoa. Taste comrpises earthy cocoa, toffee, fruit loaf, brown sugars, sweet notes, vanilla, subtle hop presence noted. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, swee and very light drying effect in the close. Ok porter.

(bottle) Clear, dark brown colour with a ruby shine and a short and tanned foamy head. Earthy dark and roasted malty aroma with notes of liquorice, milk chocolate and withered leaves. Moderately sweet, slightly roasty bitter and delicately sour flavour, rather light bodied with a smooth carbonation. Earthy and leafy, moderately roasted malty aroma with notes of caramel, liquorice and chocolate; moderately dry and mildly roasty bitter finish with notes of chocolate and hints of leather in the aftertaste. 13.V.14

Cask at The Grovesnor. Pours clear brown, minuscule bubbly white head. Aromas of light chocolate, toffee and nuts. Taste is more of the same. Smooth, light chocolate and toffee sweet. Clean finish. A refreshing porter!

On cask at the Grosvenor. Appearance - more of a toffee than the expected opaque black. Some head. Nose - dark chocolate and some nuts. Taste - praline and dark chocolate. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy and silky texture with a fairly elegant and long finish. Tastes bigger than regular porter. Overall - this one lies somewhere between a Scotch Ale and a Porter for me. It’s very good.

Bouteille: Deep chestnut-amber coloured, smaller off-white foamy layer; dryish - but not completely dry - toasty nose with fruity and ashy traces; light to moderate sweet-bitter flavour, pretty light bodied; lingering drier bitter-roasty finish, dried fruits and ashes and caramel detectable. Not too exciting, but still well crafted…

Aroma: Dark malt, roasted malt and mild coffee.
Palate: Medium body. Tad sweet and a moderate bitterness. Average to soft carbonation.
Taste: Mild fruity, mild coffee, some roasted malt and faint chocolate.
Overall impression: Decent easy drinkable porter.

Flaske 0,5l fra Vinmonopolet, bestillingsutvalget. Drukket i heimen 30 Aug 13. Dyp rødbrun. Middels høyt skum som daler raskt. Litt lacing. Forsiktig aroma av røstet malt. Myk munnfølelse. Smaken er lakris & søt røstet malt. Ettersmak av sjokolade & litt kaffe. En lett-drikkelig porter.
