Our head brewer Ben can be a difficult man to please. When we brewed Escape Pod with Jack from Left Handed Giant in 2019, and Ben crowned it his favourite Pressure Drop beer of the year, we knew we were on to something special.

When you have coconut, chocolate and vanilla luxuriating in a beer together, where to go to from there? The answer can be found in an unassuming Australian chocolate bar- the Cherry Ripe. Sienna from Pressure Drop (Queensland Queen) and Jack from LHG (Victoria represent) both thought Escape Pod carried echoes of this delight from the land down under, all that was missing was that cherry kick!

440ml can @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie, August 20. Thanks Mike for this surprise last beer of the night. Dark pour with a deep tan topping. Good layered grainy chocolate with vanilla and teasing cherry glimpses. Some coconut peering through with lasting dark malt impressions. Quite a lot going on, all coming together nicely. Very good.

440ml can. Black with a tan head. Aroma of cherries and chocolate, vanilla. Taste is lots of cherries up front, with plenty of chocolate, vanilla, coconut takes a back seat this time but definitely still there, sweet, creamy. Medium-full bodied, smooth. Great but the original was best.
