Bottle 0,33ltr: Hazy yellow Belgian blond ale with American hops thats give the beer an heavy hoppy taste, turns this beer instantly in an I.P.A.

Bottle. Massive gusher, lost about a third of its contents. Light copper color. Lime and tangerine in the aroma. Thin. Almost vinous flavor with a limited hopbitterness. Vanilla, flowers, tangerine. Creamy, citric, just a bit yeasty aftertaste

How: Bottle.
Where: Pressklubben, Stockholm.
Appearance: Hazy amber colour with an off-white head.
Aroma: Yeast, floral, caramel, fruit.
Body: Medium body and carbonation.
Flavour: Citrus, fruit, yeast, malt, some alcohol.

Apparently made in honour of Carl Kins. And it turns out quite okay: creamy, not too thick, off-white head, warm orangey blonde colour, almost amber. Nose gets hazelnuts, peach, apple, dried orange peel, bread, nutmeg, grass, leather, pepper. Taste begins with a soft rounded fruitiness, refreshing citrus, mellow caramelly and nutty maltiness in the middle, finishing in a long, herbal and peppery hoppiness. Very well-balanced and tasteful beer, but I can’t help feeling that an inspiring and knowleadgable beer man like Carl deserves something a bit more ambitious...

A great example of a Belgian IPA. It’s bitter, dry and fruity, but with a full yeasty body. Very nice.

14/IX/13 - 33cl bottle from Willems (Grobbendonk) @ home - BB: n/a, nothing marked on the label or cap (2013-847)

Clear orange to beige beer, big creamy yet crackling off-white head, pretty stable, adhesive, leaving some nice rings with each sip. Aroma: fruity, sweet ripe fruits, sweet malts, some caramel, citrus, little soapy. MF: lots of carbon, medium body. Taste: lots of citrus, grassy hops, some hay, bit sweet and malty. Aftertaste: more citrus, grassy hops, exotic fruit notes, bit of honey, floral notes, specific De Graal yeast, which is a bit spicy and gives this beer it's Belgian signature. I like this one a lot!

33 cl. bottle @ home. Procured from Willems. LOT 11442 05/2013 (is this bottled on or BBF – this is either very fresh or quite old). Bright amber with a quickly gone white head. Nose is all sweet Belgian yeast, white bread, white sugar, oranges, lightly floral, light fruit, light alcohol,… either this is old or this is another example of a Belgian brewery making an IPA or a hoppy beer in general with the bizarre idea in their head that the style does not require an over hop profile. Taste is oranges, toffee, light alcohol, floral, esters, medicinal bitterness in the back like disinfected surgical tools, light dust, hint mould, herbal,… High carb. pops a bit on your tongue like that kind of candy. I hope that this is an old bottle, otherwise I am totally not getting this celebration of hops, minus the hops or something like that. Yes this has hops in it but no more than your average Belgian Ale would have. Maybe I just have no idea how hops taste like anymore – my pallet has been destroyed by all of these American IPA’s & IIPA’s!!!

Bottle at Cafe Belgique, Amsterdam. Golden in colour with a decent white head. Sweetish, with a touch of herbal hops and a bitter finish. Good.

Bottle @ home. Didn’t taste like an IPA to me. Average smell and taste, mild/mediocre. Not much to tell, just average.
