Sansho is one of the typical Japanese spices with a unique fresh aroma. Its distinctive feature is the unique refreshing aroma and tingling sensation. Yuzu is a Japanese citrus fruit being a wild mandarin orange crossed with a lemon. the fruit has a delightful citrus aroma with a floral tone and it is widely used as seasoning in the Japanese cuisine.

Bottiglia.

Quite old can, but quite nice! perhaps the yuzu has faded but can still get a hint of it. The sansho is nice and subtle now, with just a little warming tingle on the tongue. I like this. Checking this in I see it's a session IPA. Had no idea of it being IPA related when I was drinking it. Guess it's not very IPA like.

Bottled. Hazy pale golden, mid sized head. Huge aroma of yuzu, elderflowers and sichuan peppers. Dry with light body and crisp mouthfeel. Crisp white bread citrus and numbing pepper. Low bitterness. Elegant and tasty.

33 cl bottle. Hazy golden colour with a thin white head. Sweet aroma with yuzu juices, spicy notes and peppers. Taste is tart. Medium bodied. Tart fruity finish with a good amount of citrus. Interesting - the yuzu fruits and the peppers adds a tart spiciness.

Note: sansho is not in the chili family, it is a spice related to Sichuan pepper. Bottle from Yamaoka. Strange how it takes so long for them to release beers in Japan. Big yuzu in the nose, lots of citrus, very juicy, so I suppose they use juice and not just zest. Honey malts. Nose is very sweet. Just a bit of sansho in there too, spicy and peppery. Hazy orange-amber, rather dull looking, with a nice fine head. Flavor is sweet, bready malts, honey, and quite a bit of yuzu. Sansho is light, just a bit of peppery prickliness in the beginning and a tingling left on the tongue when it's almost over. Yes it is felt throughout. The body on the whole lacks crispness. For a session, it seems a bit heavy. And it seems a bit reliant on the yuzu to the detriment of hoppiness. Not bad, but a bit too far on the novelty side with its reliance on Japanesy ingredients. And actually the more I drink the more I am put off by the bitter, heavy, raunchy finish.

Can from OEC. Pours deep amber into a tulip. White soapy head with medium retention recedes to bubble surface. Caramel and pepper aromas. Sharp yet thick with sweet caramel and lime upfront turning to mild pepper int he medium length finish.

Hazy pale golden, small frothy white head, mostly dissipating. Perfumed nose, aroma ginger, lemon (yuzu), tangerine, lemon grass, pine. Fruity and spicy taste, medium sweet and bitter, light acidic touch, lemon (yuzu), pine, peppery notes. Light to medium body, watery texture, soft carbonation, dry sweetbitter aftertaste, light acidity joins in, citrus pith, mineral notes, distinct peppery on the tongue, well-made, exquisite and interesting. Very good.
