500ml bottle. Quasi black colour with some fading, dark brown bubbles. Vinous, oaky, tannic aroma, notes of blue grapes, hints of dark berries, morello cherry, some treacle. Taste is dry and slightly tart, vinous oaky, fruity notes of blue grapes, morello cherries, blueberry, blackberry and the like. Soft palate, slightly insipid, refreshing tartness. Perfect red wine surrogate.

Courtesy & thanks to Kraddel. 500 ml. bottle sampled @ “Poppyland Sucks Tasting” @ the Barely legal tasting room. Blackish dark brown with little head. Nose is vinous, huge nail polish, tannins and cherry pits. Tastes of sour varnish, tannins, nail polish, acetone, watery, red grapes, touch fermenting cherries. Wine-like body with little carbonation. Least favourite of the 3 collaborations and honestly none of the were that great, too much just furniture varnish notes overriding everything else, seems like these were kept far too long, I do not think that the base beer was that super either. Bottle at Fastelavn Smagning 2014 @ J&C’s beer palace, Jutland 28/02/14. Light black with no head. Nose is tangy dark fruits, dank oak, fruity balsams, earthy, tired red grapes. Taste comprises dark berry fruit, tannins, woody mustness, earthy, prunes, dates, dark fruit mash up, light tarteness. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a lactic ring. Decent with very well disguised alcohol.

Bottle. A more or less flat one, dark brown in color, quite oily in the glass. Roasted malts, chocolate and some dried fruits in the aroma, with a tad more vinegar than I’d prefer. It’s oily and tart on the palate, with some sort of fine grained strange thing. Raisins, vinegar, chocolate, red wine and some roasted hints in the flavor. Lasting finish. Although there’s too much vinegar in the aroma, that’s not the case for the flavor, which is more on the red wine side. Pretty decent this one. 140228
