The Uppercut Ipa, with its dark amber colour, has an aroma of sweet red fruits and rosemary. To increase its elegance, in the final phase of the boil some rosemary is added, giving it a slightly balsamic fragrance which bonds well with the scent of its characteristic North American hops.

330ml bottle. Cloudy dark copper colour with small to average, thick, creamy, half-way lasting, moderately lacing, off-white to beige head. Caramel malty aroma, piney hoppy overtones, a touch of orange. Taste is minimally biting bitter hoppy, hints of grapefruit, red currant, later only mildly dry hoppy, caramel malty basis with a nuttily touch. Rosemary flavours in pure state are hard to detect.

(Keg at Kahdet Kasvot, 20140308) The beer poured mahogany coloured and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had raspberries, malts and herbalness. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were fruitness, earth, sweetness, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was hoppy, malty and bitter. The aroma was quite weird but the taste was pretty good.

Tap at Gallow’s Bird, Espoo. Colour is reddish light brown with small white head. Aromas and flavours: Fruits, grape, some spices, hops, caramel and malts. Pretty different IPA. Body is too thin unfortunately.

Draft @ Brassigaume ’13.

15 cl. draft @ Brassigaume 2013. Pours chestnut dark amber with a lightly tanned head. Nose is lots of grapefruit, pine, very hoppy, lovely coupled with lighter sweetness of cocoa, caramel & rosemary. Taste is pine & grapefruit hops with lots more earthly hops mixed cocoa, faint herbs (rosemary presumably but didn’t identify it), earthly, caramel malts taking over with some grounds and chocolate. Very creamy. Very interesting & above all very good and enjoyable. Clearly one of the best beers at the festival.
