0.65l bottle from Bierkoning. This is a really good looking heavy cloudy really bright orange one with a big kinda bubbly white head with great retention. A bit surprising aroma to be honest. Not sure what it was expecting, but not this. It has a really sweet and super floral nose with lots of interesting hard to put words on nuances. Citrus and tropical juice that has been standing in a warm place is perhaps the best description I can make. There is also a swift of alcohol, wheat and flour as well. Really easy to drink. It tastes a bit different from the aroma. It's not nearly as sweet as I would have thought. The mouthfeel here is light oily and it has a below average prickling carbonation level. I get a good amount of hay and grass in the taste. A bit like fresh cut grass with a little citrus juices and a blood orange bitterness. It's really lightdrinkable and really interesting. Ends with a fair amount of alcohol in the aftertaste. This could be any genre in the world - but far from what I would think of when I think of a mild. Bottle. Clear deep golden color, small white head. Aroma of citrus, raw bread. Taste is sweet citrus and caramel. Totally different than its cousins, each a fascinating piece of history.

Very hazy orange beer, little white head. Palate is soft and a little dry. Dry creamy malt. Mile minerals. Good balance of pithy orange hop bitterness. Even more creamy malt and a trace of banana ester. Fairly astringent finish. Interesting!

650ml bottle. Hazy orangey golden colour with small, creamy, half-way lasting, moderately lacing, white head. Hoppy aroma with a touch of mint, pale malty basis with biscuit touch. Taste is minimally sweet pale malty with a biscuit touch, floral hoppy overtones with an orange note and hints of mint, almost peppery in the finish. As the description says: "[...] this is a straightforward, uncomplicated beer, [...] much paler than you might expect". Exactly: no knick-knack, simply tasty, quaffable, good - and, by the way, the palest Mild Ale for me so far. Thank you for reviving this recipe - cool stuff.

Bottle. Pours hazy butterscotch with a small white head that dissipates quickly with good lacing. Aroma is citrus, corn, grain, hay. Flavor is the same, medium sweet, light grassy bitter. Bit of corn syrup. Bitterness increases with drinking. Surprisingly full bodied with a creamy mouthfeel. Interesting beer, very interesting series idea.

Thanks to Man-ki fors haring. 655 ml. bottle sampled. Drank side-by-side with the 1945 as suggested. Very interesting concept that greatly interests me, although it is quite impossible to be honest. Bottled on 13/02/2012 so quite a bit old for this. Pours a hazy murky orange with little white head. Nose is mellow yeast, plaster, thick yeast, lightly fruity, some dust & vintage, mellow hops,… Taste is light plaster, yeast, mellow malts, sweet peach, light fruits, mellow caramel notes, light flowers,… Body is a bit dominated by yeast. Sort of neutral and okay. Feels far too American for its intent for me personally.

Bomber courtesy of and shared with Man Ki and 77 ships. Dorée paille, col blanc épais. Arôme garde un côté anglais dans l’approche des malts, entre pâle et anglais, note fruitée de pêche pour un houblon restant assez neutre. Palais reste épais, malté, sec et levure, pointe amertume houblonné en fin de bouche pour un côté citronné modéré.

Bottle. Light grainy malt and alcohol aroma. Clear gold with a large white head. Earthy barley malt, herbal hops, and alcohol flavor. Medium body, low carbonation.

Bottle. Very light lemon and herbal hops aroma. Golden yellow with large head. Sweet lemon, light barley malt, and herbal hops/alcohol bitterness. Interesting - nothing like a modern mild - probably most like a modern English Strong Ale.
