Bottle. Nose is red currants, bready, dark fruits, toffee. Taste is tofee, fruity, raisins, brown sugar, bread, lightly bitter, a little woody, hazelnut, light herbal hop note lifts and brightens the finish. For a supermarket bottled beer, this is so much better than I was expecting: its fantastic for the price point. Really enjoyed it.

Bottle picked up at the Adnams shop, Holkham, Norfolk. Never realised the difference in ABV before. Clear dark cola brown. Slim dense beige foam. Nose has fruit cake mix. Earthy hop leaf. Bit of privet. Some dark chocolate and toffee. Taste has an initial cake mix sweetness before getting pretty bitter along the lines of hop leaf and light roast malt. Easy drinking for the ABV. Tasty gear. Wish I’d popped a few in me basket, now.

50cl bottle from Stonemanor, The British Store near Brussels. F: medium, tan, creamy, good retention. C: dark coppery to brown, clear. A: rich malty, bready, berries, nice hoppy, port wine. T: medium to full malty base, bready, berries, spicy, nice balanced long lasting bitterness, toast, dry on the palate, soft carbonation after pouring, very good for the style, fully enjoyed.
