Some guests brought to my St Patrick’s day shindig. Pours black with fine head. Nose of cocoa and malt. Tastes of light malt, corn, chocolate, and earth. Kinda watery and not much going on

Bottle. Pour is a dark brown with a very large head and aromas of faintly roasty malt. Flavor is a mess, though. Like corn driven black lager. I was hoping this would be alright. It’s not for me.

It pours a sort of dark with some light showing through. The smell is a sweet, slightly roasted maltiness with some coffee hints. The taste lacks the creaminess of what I’m used to having when I grab a Guinness Draught, so kinda lacking all around, sweetness - not there, bitterness - not there, anything, yeah just bland. The palate is about a medium with some light dry crispness coating the tongue. Overall, it is unclear if I would have this again, maybe if it was free.

Bottle pour to shaker. Cola color. Tastes like a standard lager, but a little maltier. Hint of roasted barley. Nothing about it that I say anything good about.

Aroma has some crisp graininess with a medium roast character. A bit of a floral, fruity ester quality to the aroma. No diacetyl. The graininess and cracker notes are surprisingly strong and overwhelm the roast but somehow let the esters through. Pours black with some dark brown notes on the edges. A medium, tan head recedes fairly quickly leaving a persistent film on top and the edges. Taste has an odd sweetness to it which hits right away. Almost tart and a bit acidic which is very off putting. Finishes with a slightly astringent roast note. The esters aren’t as prevalent in the flavor. Light bitterness to it but no hop flavor. Mouthfeel is medium light bodies with medium carbonation. The astringency is medium low and alcohol warmth is very low. A bit watery. Overall the aroma to this beer is alright, but the acidity in the flavor is downright bad. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle 10/26/12: Dark brown pour with some tan head. Nose is a lot like Guinness Draught, but less intense. Similar sensation in the flavor too... the roast element is nice, but isn’t this just really close to a watered down version palatable to the masses?
