Draft from Rattle and Hum. Poured a dark copper with minimal head. Smokey aroma, a bit sweet to taste. Pretty decent stuff.

Draft. Rich amber beer with a cream colored head. Smoke and light malt aroma. Nice smoke flavor with a bit of bacon. Medium-plus bodied. Nice smoke lingers with a light woodsiness and light malt.

Draft, Toronado. This one was a bit disappointing but good nonetheless. I like smoked beers to be a bit more robust, and this beer drinks smaller than average for the size. There’s a good smoke note, but it’s of medium intensity, which isn’t really my ideal for the style. The underlying beer is good but somewhat bland. The mouthfeel was a bit watery and detracted from the flavors. In my opinion, smoked beers should try to go very smokey and interesting or subtle and balanced, and this beer went for an odd bargain position. Not bad but not something I’d order again.

I did not know this was meant to be a "Belgian" smoked, just a smoked of some sort. Either way I did not pick up anything Belgian on it. It was served to me with a small, strong, and soft head. The color is dark, thick amber. At first smell I got all hops. It took a bit of time for the smoke to come out. The hops are herbal and the smoke is slightly sweet. The flavor was similar. The feel is a bit spritz-y. Its a good beer to drink, the smoke is not strong but there.
Draft at Ginger Man served in a snifter.

A nice smokey ale. Roasted malt aroma rises from a dark amber pour. Medium off-white head. Flavor has strong notes of coffee and burnt malt. Sweet and bitter sensations, which persist in in the aftertaste. And band-aids. This beer has a strong odor and taste of band-aids (or what I imagine band-aids would taste like based on their odor), which is not a bad thing in this case. Interesting and pretty solid

Sampled on tap at Granville Moore’s in DC. Typically I love Allagash but typically I hate smoked beers. Pours a translucent bronze with a lacing eggshell head. Aroma is only lightly smokey, with a distinct dry maltiness. Flavor is where this train jumps the tracks. All smoke, like drinking a campfire, there is some maltiness but it’s like eating an irish soda bread that had been cold smoked. Once you get beyond the smoke there is an earthiness to it. Finish is dry with a sour, smokey thing happening. Not my thing.

Served on draft at Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a hazy copper-amber color with a large creamy head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma is caramel with a dry, nutty smokiness. Strong smoke in the taste with notes of leather, toasted malts, caramel, candi sugar, light fruity notes and pepper. Medium bodied.

Tap at the Other Side. Pours deep amber into a tulip. Fluffy white head with good retention. Slight smoke aromas. Sweet biscuit with a touch of brett upfront and smoky in the lasting finish. Slight alcohol burn.
