On tap at Free State, pours a clear dark copper amber with a small beige head. Aroma brings out toasted nuts, caramel and bready malt. Flavour is rich, with lots of bready caramel and a hint of toasted nuts. Great malt bill, with a rich palate that never cloys or becomes too sweet. Very good.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear deep amber with a tan head that dissipates quickly to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of sweet grains and bread with a hint of cookie. Flavor has similar notes of sweet grain and bread that finishes smooth.

Taster @ the brewpub. Color is completely clean copper. Aroma is lightly fruity and earthy German lager yeast, that only that combination can bring. Taste is clean and lightly earthy. Fine stuff for a doppelbock but a bit boring at the end.

Glass from a growler graciously shared with me by csbosox. Pour is clear ruby brown with a tan head. Aroma of caramel sweetness, some grainy hay. Taste is caramel maltiness, sharp sweetness, with hop bitterness in the finish. Grass and dirty straw throughout. Palate is thin to medium, easy drinking, though still quite a bit of flavor. Overall nice beer. Super cool of you stop by and offer me a glass of this Chris.

Dark ruby-amber, small thin layer of foam. Appearance immediately reminds of Salvator. Rich toasty and caramel aroma. Warming and toffeeish upon first sip. Rich toffee-caramel flavors. Alcohol warm finish, with just enough balancing hops to smooth out all that sweet Munich malt. Excellent doppelbock, and one of the top 5, if not 3, US-brewed doppelbocks.
