According to Mayan and Hopi calendars the "transition from one world age to another'' will happen on December 21, 2012.
As an homage to the "transition" DC Brau has concocted an Imperial IPA named "On the Wings of Armageddon".
OTWOA is a single hop blend* beer utilizing Falconers Flight™. Brewed with just enough Pale malt, Cara-60, CaraPils and Malted wheat to carry the intense hop character onto the pallet.
At first glance, it has an orange hue in the glass with a viscus, rocky head that refuses to dissipate. Upon first sniff there are dominate aromas of citrus, white grapes and grapefruit with light bread and biscuit notes. After the first sip we taste a mellow bitterness that only grows as more is consumed. Moderately carbonated, deceptively smooth, refreshingly dry and extremely heady for a beer at 9.5% ABV.

A hazed golden amber DIPA with a thin off white head. In aroma, beautiful pungent floral hops with smooth orange pulp, meaty notes, very nice. In mouth, an intense sweet fruity malt with papaya pulp, pink grapefruit, floral and piney hops, very classic DIPA. On tap at Lord Hobo, July 15, 2012.

Served on draft at Beer Run. Pours a hazy amber color with a thin white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of herbal, citrus and tropical hop notes. The taste is herbal, citrus, tropical and spice hops with some pale malts. Medium bodied.

Pours a relatively clear amber color with a smallish off white head. Smells of grapefruit and a bit of pine. Wonderfully intense hop aroma with a barely sweet maltiness deep underneath. Nice bitter resinous flavor with a hint of bread and caramel carry the flavor very well. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a resinous slick mouthfeel. The first beer I’ve tried from this brewery and wow its a great brew, I can’t wait to try some more of their stuff.

On tap at Paradiso Dupont. $3 pint at happy hour, can’t beat that. 12ox glass pours a hazy orange with a lacing, white head. Nose is fruity, tropical fruit, grapefruit, juicy, oranges, a little light malt, pine resin. Flavor is bitter, fruity, mango, peach, pineapple, grapefruit, lemons, tangelo. Malty backbone is there to support it all too. Full bodied, bitter but not abrasive finish. I really enjoyed this. If they canned this, I would drink a ton of it. Very impressive.

The Pug, DC pint ($7): It is 1:30 PM. I am hungover. This beer is the reason. With a name like Wings of Armageddon, I was expecting a Belgian Ale. Instead I got a pretty heady DIPA. The beer pours a copper colour. The aroma is grapefruity hops, hops, and a few more hops. Taste is pretty hoppy, but not overly intense. Not chuggable by any means. Another good offering from DC Brau.

Draft at Churchkey. Poured a clear orange color with a slightly foamy white head. Aroma was citrus, with notes of pleasant pine. Flavor was a nice one where the malts and hops were relatively balanced, but there was a noticeable hop presence. Alcohol evident.
I’ve had this a few more times both on draft, at the brewery and from the bottle and wow, this is one of the best beers produced in the mid-Atlantic area.

Draft served by the chanting monks at Churchkey. Hazy yellow color, large fluffy white head. Aroma of pine. Taste is lightly spiced pine resin. Very nice, without being in your face.
