750ml bottle - lightly hazy gold - fairly effervescent pour - pillowy head that lasts a bit before eventually shrinking to a fluffy lace - nose is really quite lovely, reminding me a lot of Orval - light tartness and soft rustic maltiness, but mostly a distinct mix of musky/perfume phenolics, mild barnyard character, some mild touches of herbs - I could smell this all night - soft mouthfeel, moderate froth on the carbonation - flavor is a bit sweet for the abv - I was hoping for something more crisp and dry - some tropical brett characteristics (mostly pineapple), and mild funky phenolics - there is some mild hop character, but it seems a bit dull, so I think this is starting to show some age (based on the other ratings, I’m assuming this bottle is from the same batch) - finish of mildly spicy phenolics (pepper) and some gentle herbal notes - it’s really solid - just wish it was more crisp, less sweet - if they make it again, I’d love to try it fresh

750mL capped bottle poured into De Dolle long stemmed tulip-globe. Beautiful thick, strong, cloud-like head. Golden color underneath the long lasting head. Just a beautiful beer, perfect looking for the style. Aroma has a strong yeast airiness with herbal and rustic yeast character. Banana and similar esters are nil. Just a hint of slick sweet Belgian malts, but works real well with the rustic character. Body is medium light, carbonation is smooth on the tongue and slightly tingly on the cheeks. Flavor is similarly rustic with maybe a hint of herbal hops peaking through at the very end. The beer definitely seems like a Saison Dupont clone. Very well constructed and executed. At 9 bucks and 5.7 abv, I think this is definitely returnable. And I love the Mitch Hedberg reference.
