Bottle during RBWG Lobby Share. Pours a cloudy copper with small beige head. The aroma is caramel and brown sugar. Medium mouth with dark fruits, brown sugar, very sweet, good.

22oz bottle poured into a Rev sampling glass. Apparently, this is a year old. Hazy dark amber color with visible carbonation. Aroma is as expected, strong sweet raisin malt, lots of alcohol. Even a good deal bit of rubbing alcohol coming through, maybe that’s the rum. Flavor is similar with maybe less rubbing alcohol. Eh, long sweetness.

FWIBF. Pours with a hazy brownish hued body with a small tan head. Looks almost brandy like and very thick. Aromas are boozy, caramel, grassy, barrel, citrus, rum, molasses, booze and curacao. Flavors are boozy, rum, barrel, medium bitter, caramelized sugars, molasses. Sweet finish lots of alcohol. Warming,

Share courtesy of dak. It pours with a clear amber body that supports a thin light tan head of foam. The aroma offers up mostly sweet dark fruity esters with prunes and figs and dates as well as some sugary smelling malts. In the background is a touch of oak. The taste is smooth with just the right amount of boldness. I get plums, raisins and figs to go along with a mild sense of sugar coated bitter hops and spicy rye bread. Deep in the background are notes of smooth sweet rum-y goodness and oak. Darn nice stuff. Great sipper as all the flavor notes come together wonderfully and build a smooth nectar rich like bridge to flavor paradise.

Bomber drank whilst watching the final BSG episode. Awesome! Frack me. Anyway, pours a deep ruby hue with a small white head. A big fruity nose with some chocolate and light barrel. The flavor combines big sweet berries, molasses and caramel and sweeter rum and heat. A bit warm but flavorful and nice. A decadent treat.

Bottle - thanks much to jlanning215! Pours clear chestnut with a small tan head that slowly dissipates leaving decent lacing. Aroma is toffee, rum, molasses. Flavor is quite strong rum overlying rich malty toffee and molasses. Woody notes prominent, along with some astringence. Medium sweet, light bitter. Strong warming finish - this is really an ABV forward beer. Nice, but would actually prefer to have the barrel pulled back just a bit.

From notes. Draft. Damn, this is good. Brown sugar and wood with dark fruits and some vanilla. I would love a bottle to bring with.

Draft at Standard Market. 10 oz. glass for $6. A deep, cloudy, murky brown. Lacy, thin strings of foam. Smell is rather light; no heady alcohol. A bit of fruity ester. BUT the taste is indeed big. Thick mouthfeel like a raisin syrup with a slight bit of cherry. Rum is very much in evidence, but hovers in the background. Despite the warming alcohol and thick mouthfeel, it’s not overbearing. Hops only serve to offset the sweetness, unlike a Bigfoot. A lot like a sherry, with a little rum to the rear. The 10 ounces is quite more than enough, thank you. So hard to do more than just sip this wonder.

Sample at the Blarney Wine tasting on 03/16/2013: The beer pours a hazy mahogany color with a medium off-white head that recedes steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Boozy aroma with malt and vanilla notes. Full, syrupy body with flavors of earthy malt, rum and wood. The finish is sweet with a rum and oak aftertaste. Pretty good overall.
