Backlog. 33 cl bottle @ home, issue 2006/2007, 8.3%. Dark brown color. Not much head. Aroma’s: roasted, bitterish, sweetish, some acidity. Flavor is roasted, but only lightly sweet. Medium to full body. Short bitter finish, but a remaining mild bitterness.

Bottle at Monks Porter House. Brownish with a creamy white head. Very malty with toffee and dried fruit. Some notes of alcohol and phenols. Not brilliant but tasty enough.

Appearance: Deep amber color with a tan head that leaves some lacing.
Aroma: Balanced and a bit sweet fruity (raisins?).
Palate: Medium body. Slightly sweet and an ok bitterness. Soft carbonation.
Taste: Deep caramel malty and a fine fruity background. Raisins and light spicy.
Overall impression: An unusual fine Dopplebock. Normally no big fan. But this was a nice example.
Personal stats: Bottle as De Molen Dubbelbock from Vinmonopolet Oslo - Vika in Oslo, Norway.

330ml bottle, as Dubbelbock, at VertsHuset Skarven in friendly company with Loz, her mother, Fin and Finn. Pours a lasting, white head over a cloudy amber coloured body. Nose is mostly malty, semi-sweet and semi-dry. Malty sweetness to the taste buds alongside moments of dried fruits. The alcohol is surprisingly present. Quite possible to drink, however rather disappointing in a De Molen context (Tromsø, 19.01.2013).

Flaske 0,33l som Dubbelbock på vertshuset Skarven 16 Jan 13. Dyp brun. Litt hissig. Veldig høyt luftig skum som varer nesten evig. Danner en skumtopp i midten.Litt lacing. Bra krydderaroma. Smaken er litt fruktig. Mørke plommer. Også litt krydderpreg her. Blir syrlig etter hvert. Tørr bitter avslutning med innslag av tørket frukt.

Bottle at home. The colour is clear amber with a frothy medium light beige head. Medium carbonation. Aromas of roasted almonds, sweet and caramel malt, nuts, oak and fudge, and a touch of dark berries. Sweet and malty flavours of leather, caramel and more oak. A rich and soft mouthfeel, and a surprisingly medium bitterness. A rich and flavourful doppelbock, but I would prefered less bitterness. Would be great with meaty dishes.
