Bottle: Poured a deep dark reddish color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of oak and tart cherries with light sugar notes. Taste is a complex mix between some oak and tart cherries with light acidic notes and some light notes of residual sugar. Body is slightly above average with great carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Overall, a very solid offering that drinks very well with being quite sour.

Bottle at Chriso’s 2012 Pre-GBBF Shindig, London. Pours very foggy amber with a fine tan foam head. Funky nose rife with poop, some tangy berries. Light to medium sweet flavor, fairly bitter with some earthy and leafy character, moderate manure. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Moderately sweet to finish with some leaves and tangy berries. It’s OK.

Unlabeled bomber sample @ GBF 2012 // colour is dark brown cranberries with a small tanned head on the sides // smell is not overtly sour even sweetish with lots of berries in it, small touch of sour malt, some sour cherries, light tang and wood // start out on the more mellow sour but does carry its tang, sour berries, cherries blended with light chocolate, some spices, wood, some jello, reasonable amount of dark sugar and some spices towards the end and vinegar berries // carb. is quite high on this // not bad but nowhere as good as I remember batch 1 being when it was fresh, maybe it needs maturing but age is rarely kind on Alvinne beers, even the sour ones // not a bad blend & I clearly recognize the 2 base beer, having had both

Rim of yellow foam over hazed brown beer. Sourish, very lactic, wood & milk- + bitter chocolate; inviting. Sour-sweet, in excellent balance; pineapple, wood & chocolate in the finish. Better balanced than the first batch. Prickly carbonation, despite its lame visual aspect; medium bodied, slick. Right! Very good, especially qua balance.
