Pours hazy dark blonde with a foamy, lasting, white head. The aroma contains yeast, hay, barnyard, some cheese even, caramel and herbs. It tastes light sweet and medium bitter. High fermentation is noticeable, as is the alcohol. Medium body, creamy texture, but too lively in carbonation, which makes it a bit unpleasant.

(Bottle, 0.33 l - BBE N/17, at Flying Dutch, 20160825) The beer poured brown and hazy. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had molasses and grass. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, grass, molasses and bitterness. Aftertaste was malty and bitter. A Belgian dunkler bock? Not bad but confusing.

One of Domus Ignis’s first two beers, since 2010. Yellowish beige head, dark bronze colour with ruby hue. Aroma of meat broth, liquorice, candi sugar, pear, caramel, fried eggs. Soft palate with dark fruits, spicy and meaty accents, caramel, raisins, thinnish mouthfeel, pretty complex with some light roasted bitterness in the end as well as some mild herbal hops. Not bad, but it’s not going to change anything either.

(bottle, 33cl) Hazy, amber colour with a big and off-white foamy head. Belgian yeasty spice mixed up with cara-malt, candy sugar and slightly citric and herbal hops. Moderately sweet and delicately sour flavour, medium bodied with a calm carbonation. Slightly sugary and fruity (cara-)malty taste with hoppy spice in the background; mildly sweet and delicately acidic and tart finish. 10.III.14

Sampled draft 15 cl.@ Modeste 2013. Hazy orange with a creamy white head. Nose is very sweet orange, esp. very sweet orange peel with some light BE esters. Taste is bitter upfront, overall dominated by an excess of BE yeast, sweet orange, candy sugar, caramel, more citrus & some esters in the back. BE yeast dominates heavily. Yeast comes across in the body obv. it is also a bit fizzy. Neither memorable or impressive but reaonably solid BSBA.
