Hazy golden pour, huge white head. Aroma of tropical fruit, yeasty esters, and some sour funk. The funk is there, and there is a nice peperiness you would find in a saison too. Flavor is quite dry, and fruity with some more sourness. The carbonation is a little over the top, and it does take away from my enjoyment, but other than that, this is a great saison. A nice beer but I just fine if lacks that saison crisp, refreshing lightness, it seemed a little too dense and heavy.

Poured from a 750 ml bottle from 2011; another back of the cellar find. Aroma is fairly malty with some caramel, light toasted bread notes, candi sugar and honey. Some light to medium guava notes. Hints of citrus and other tropical fruits. Light notes of oxidation. Pours a slightly hazy, copper color with a medium large, medium thick and frothy, slightly tan head that recedes very quickly to the edges where a small, thin clump lingers for a bit. No lacing and small legs. Flavor is slightly tart with a moderate sweetness. Sweet malt notes are caramel, then honey, candi sugar and toasted bread. Medium light guava notes with lighter citrus and pineapple. Hints of other tropical fruit as well. Oxidation notes are light, but the guava has faded a bit. Medium bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, an alright beer but this much age has pushed it past its prime. Hopefully I don’t have too many more of these old cellar finds, but I’m pretty sure there are another couple cases of this old stuff lurking. A bit more guava as the beer warms and opens up. Hints of alcohol. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, an alright beer but past its prime. The fruit notes are fading and becoming muddled. Some light oxidation characteristics are also creeping in. Definitely better as a younger beer.
