Bottle. BBF jan 2013, so 5,5 years after BBF date. Bought only some days ago in a bottleshop in the Ardennes without any warming about the long ago past BBF date. Color: Very dark ruby, no head. Taste: Vinuous, moderate to medium sour, moderate sweet, very lightly bitter. Notes of applesyrup, wine vinegar, caramel, soy sauce. Medium body, no carbonation. Very interesting one, pretty good ageing. Likeable.

Clear brown colour, beige head. Aroma of chocolate, caramel, syrup, dried dark fruits, sour red berries. Light sour, quite sweet flavour, figs, light red wine vinegar. Full body, finish red berries, caramel, chocolate. Nice!

Rerun of the original Balthazar following a new recipe, with yellowish beige, stable head and misty bronze robe; complex but not too well-balanced aroma of dark fruits (dates, raisins), liquorice, caramel, oak, yoghurt, coffee grounds; fruity, rounded, sweetish taste with spicy accents, smooth and rich malt base, bit astringent sourish accent and a woody, hop bittery finish. A different beer from the original one and to me just a bit less interesting because of the somewhat disturbing woody tartness, but still okay.

On tap @ Borefts 2013. Now it's so dark here that the color on this has to be a qualified guess at best. Kinda reddish brown and cloudy? Anything other would surprise me. It had a small white ish head but I can't brag about being able to see it any more. The wind takes the aroma, but I manage to capture a little bit of red sweet berries. Also a hint of wood sourness. Light tart perhaps? It's not to tart in the taste no more sugary sweet really. Red berries dominates here also and there is even a little bit of raspberries. Not a utterly exciting one to be honest, kinda flat and dull. Still not bad tasting just dull. 28.09.2013
