On tap at Churchkey during CBC week. Pours a clear dark gold with zero head. Nose is a nice mix of green peppercorns, candy sugar, over ripe fruit, cheese. Flavor has bright fruit but also earthy peppercorns, apples, jalapeno, malt, hay, grass. Medium bodied, sweet and spicy finish. I really liked the combination.

Bottle. Pours with a hazed golden hued body with a large, foamy white head with good lace and retention. Aromas are strongly peppery, spicy, earthy, green pepper corns, bay leaves, nutmeg. Fertilizer. Medium phenol, dry apple. Malt is a touch stickier smelling than I like. Rustic, but overdone pepper aroma. Flavors are hugely peppery. A glass maybe, but why I’d this in a 22oz bottle?! Huge black pepper burn, green pepper flavor. All spice on the back end with pepper, nutmeg and tobacco. Low malt , medium ester. Dry, lively bubbles, harshly spicy.

Robert brought this one back from a trip to Boston. +++ Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark golden color with a medium sized foamy white head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was yeasty and funky with a strong black pepper presence and dryish, almost musty undertones. The flavor was dry and very peppery, a bit spicy and musty. Long dry pepper finish. Medium body. Interesting.

Pours pale gold into a Sam glass. Bright white head crackles and recedes to nothing. Sweet caramel and peppercorn aromas. Soft with sweet rye and caramel upfront turning to a nicely spiced hot pepper finish.

A lightly hazed golden saison with a very thin whiite head. A pleasant aroma of subdued white pepper, with honey, and coriander. In mouth, a nice peppery saison with light peppeer burn, smooth, a bit thin but overall very good. A good summer quaffer. On tap at brewpub, April 4, 2010.
