Lucifer is a strong blond top-fermented beer. The beer has been brewed by Brouwerij Riva since 1980. However, in 2009 brewery Het Anker was given the right to brew the beer and to market it in large numbers. The brewery concept of Riva Brewery has remained unchanged since the transfer to Het Anker brewery. The brewmasters continued to brew with exactly the same ingredients.

Bottle, 0.33l. Hazy copper pour, teo finger frothy white head, long lasting. Very good retention, lots of lacing on the glass. Average on the nose, somewhat sweet, malty, wheat, hints of banana. Medium body, lively carbonation. Average mouthfeel and texture, a bit lightweight for the ABV. Bittersweet taste and aroma, not bad but nothing to make it stand out either. Malt, wheat, yeast. Banana notes, herbal spiciness. Mild bitterness in the background, quite dry. Medium lasting finish, lingering alcohol burn on the tongue. Pretty much average.

Bottle. Blonde. Citrus and poire Williams in the aroma. Citrus flavor, slightly alcoholic, with some yeasty notes. Good stuff.

Flasche bei Marktkauf. Trüber, goldner Körper. Aroma: Malz, Frucht, Karamell, Weizen. Geschmack: Nasse Erde, Malz, etwas Frucht, etwas Rauch. Würzig.

I came by this 750 ml bottle (11/3/16 date on the label, March 11th I assume in the European way of doing it) at the Total Wine in Santa Fe, NM, a surprise find. I remove the cage and cork and lift into my new Cowtown Brewing snifter. The delivery is a light yellow-blonde body topped by a vigorous and steady cotton white head. Very aromatic, I get nectarine, straw and yeast. A taste follows, slightly sweet, yellow fruit, more of the yeast, grain and white bread. A bit of spice from something and a finishing bitterness. Full in mouthfeel, rather forward. I can appreciate.

Aus der Flasche 2015-12 getrunken. Oh ja dieses super süffige Blonde Belgische kommt mit einer recht leichten Struktur daher, aber wahrscheinlich ist es noch zu "jung".

Draught @ Albion. Murky brown with very small frothy off-white head, sweet caramel aroma, medium carbonation, lightly bitter caramel taste that continues sweeter, thin body, long finish. Quite strong, bit well covered alcohol.
