Lucifer is a strong blond top-fermented beer. The beer has been brewed by Brouwerij Riva since 1980. However, in 2009 brewery Het Anker was given the right to brew the beer and to market it in large numbers. The brewery concept of Riva Brewery has remained unchanged since the transfer to Het Anker brewery. The brewmasters continued to brew with exactly the same ingredients.

bottle from somewhere. Hazy golden, large white head. Sweet and sticky with a touch of alcohol, not very interesting.

Poured from a bottle it is a hazy golden color with an amazing prolific white head; the aroma is lemon and the taste is sweet like root berr which lapses onto a tangey aftertaste.

From a 33 cl bottle shared at home. Pours a clear gold with a massively thick off white head. Aroma of bubble gum and banana. Fairly sweet flavor with a hint of caramel. Effervescent mouthfeel. Crisp finish.

Big, white, billowing head. Small amounts of bubbles within a straw-yellow, if brilliant, beer. Backlighting results in a gorgeous glow. Some scattered lace. The maintaste is spicy, a bit tart (lemons), and yeastily typical. Pretty great in every way, if we’re being honest. Not exceptional, mind, but an exemplar of the style. A superlative Belgian Strong Pale Ale -- one of the finest -- and highly recommended.

From bottle at a tasting at Bar & Cigar. Almost clear golden with a nice, white head. Fruity aroma with Belgian yeast, malt, spices and a hint of hops and alcohol. Moderate sweet with a balanced bitterness. Well balanced and surprisingly easy drinkable. Pleasant fruity and yeasty flavours with some spicy notes. Nice Belgian.

Bottle at home. Pours a slightly hazy dark straw colour with a huge off-white head. Classic Belgian blonde aroma with Belgian yeast, sweet light malt, citrus, spices and some peach. The flavour follows up and is more sweet than other similar beers. Rich and smooth mouth feel, and a light bitterness. Solid, sweet and balanced. Dangerously easy-drinking.

Bottle at Rootz, Den Haag. Poured a hazy medium amber with a frothy white head. The aroma is big yeast leading to a medium bitter big yeast flavour and not a whole lot else really. It’s very Duvel like. A typical yeasty Belgian session beer. A style that had been around forever and has its place on a hot summer day. Nice and refreshing but I feel like its yesterday’s beer.
