Backlog June 2009 as La Maitrsss Du Moine (9% ABV). Dark brown/amber body under a small beige head. Aroma has malt, dry fruit, chocolate and caramel. Taste is sweet malt, caramel, chocolate, quite strong dark fruit and some kind of slightly sour bitterness similar to strong, bitter coffee. Fine body and long lasting aftertaste. Nice one.

Very nicely done. Subtle and excellent. Florals and tobacco. Dark plum. Maroon pour with good head and lacing. Nice balance. Great stuff. Took a while of wanting before I had a taste but this is good. Light sweet finish. Bottle.

Bottle at tasting, thanks Jonno. Dark brown, golden bubbly head. Aroma is fruity, bit beefy, touch of chocolate sweetness, lots of caramel. Taste is very nice, sweet and chocolate, vanilla creamy, something bit strange/savoury. Some fruitiness again. Very nice texture. Booze lurking there in the background but well hidden. Very nice.

22 oz bottle poured. Thanks, Wyatt! Alaska beer night! A treat to try such a praised belgain strong from these guys. A dense, jet black pour, moderate tan foam head. Aroma is more modest than expected, dark fruit, raisin/plum, soft spices. Flavor has plenty of the same dark fruit, paired with spices, and just a hint of chocolate. Lingering plum and raisin spice that sticks around forever in the palate. Smooth enough for a strong. Well put together, and wonderfully complex. Love it.

Hoppy peach aroma and flavor with a hint of berries. Thinnish and somewhat alcoholic. Hints of licorice and roasted malt. Pepper.

Bomber from Alaska Liquor Store, Skagway. Nose is candi sugar, black raisins, and a hint of banana ester. Clear dark brown with a medium, lightly lacing, tan head. Flavor is moderately sweet with a white peppery note, dark fruit, and hints of cloves and char. Very nice.

Poured the exact opposite of the last beer, flat and thin, strong too with nothing to mask it. Maybe a bad batch? Photo is right after pour.

650 ml bottle. Pours a dark red/mahogany with full head. Aromas of candi sugar, sweet dark malts, and metallic Belgian yeast. Rich flavors follow same - sweet and thick with a little spice. Right on...

75 cl bottle @ hotel room, San Diego. Aroma has sweet raisins and licorice. Also sweet malt. Flavour has lots of sweet licorice, some raisins and mild coffee notes. Oaty and a bit foamy palate. Becomes sweet and sticky after some sips. One of the best Belgian style ales outside Belgium. Gotta love the good licorice here.
