Old rating from 2002 - From the tap at the brewery in Portland, Oregon. Pours amber with a white foamy head. Aromas & tastes of caramel, citrus, flora, pine & malt. Medium body. Medium bitter finish. Excellent IPA in it's day & a shame the brewery is no long around

Bottle. Cloudy, gold color. Floaties. Medium head and medium lace. Taste and aroma is spruce and citrus. I just don’t understand why there are so many IPAs.

Bottle from a supermarket in Oregon. Aroma is zesty citrus peel, grassy hops, tropical fruits, light pale malt, soft floral notes. Light sweet and above medium bitter. Body is medium. Tasty, still pretty royally hopped for a very classic IPA.

On tap at The Cheerful Tortoise, Portland, Oregon. Has a hazy dark amber colour with an off-white head. Aroma of grapefruit, grass, caramel, pine and subtle diacetyl. Flavour of grass, weeds, pine and spicy hops. Has a slick mouth feel, medium bitterness and medium to heavy bitterness. Pretty hoppy and a little unbalanced. Decent though.

From Oct 2005

This IPA pours a lovely clear gold until the smidgeon of yeast at the bottom of the bottle hits the glass and produces a cloudy gold. Yum...I love bottle conditioned ales.
The head is quite massive at first but settles into a nice 1/4" layer around the glass.

Smell is citrusy and promising.

Taste is a nice harmonic balance between the hops and the malt that lingers in the aftertaste. Superb IPA *and* it didn't take a high abv to make it so! Only thing is, I can only get this one when I make trips to Colorado or order it on line. --- Beer merged from original tick of India Pale Ale on 02 Nov 2012 at 18:19 - Score: 9

On tap at the Brewpub. Hazy golden with a white head. Nothing special with this one. Citrus, some hops and malt.

355 ml bottle into shaker. Full-on nose! Cheese, wood shavings, pineapple, lemon sherbet! Amazing! Looks cloudy orange with fluffy white head and many tiny bubbles. Laces well. Flat mouthfeel, oily texture. Finish is plastic, resin, grapefruit, dough. There’s a diminishing white wine grape note that becomes sweeter right at the end. I think 5 different hop varieties are playing tricks on me, great beer. Evolving taste is hard to pin down but I like it!

Bottle sample at a tasting at troubles’s place. Thanks kerenmk. Cloudy yellow. Aroma of kinda stale hops and a vegetal touch. Flavor has sweetish malt, a bit of marmalade, a bit of vegetables, stale citric hops, and a bitterish finish. Medium-bodied.

Cask@GBBF 2015, Olympia, London - gold coloured pour with white head. Aroma and taste is a medley of tropical and citrus fruits, hoppy and malty, some caramel, orange, grapefruit and peach, pine needles, hoppy bitter finish. Good stuff.
