Superb golden ale from the Maes brewery. Clear gold, strong complex flavours with a dry aftertaste. Not to heavy in body and quite lively. Should suit the British palate well. Best served in it's own glass. 8,5% alc. Serving temperature 16 •c

Judas was launched in 1986 and was originally brewed in Brasserie Union at Jumet, until production moved to Alken in 2007.

Review based on the BJCP2008 guidelines (style 18D). Bottle 33 cl - Batch A42940444. AROMA: complex aroma with mild sweet malty notes of pears and ripe apples. perfumy alcohol notes and a slight citric touch. APPEARANCE: gold color and translucent. average moussy white head with good retention and lacing. TASTE: overall sweet malty flavour with notes similar to the aromas but less intense. medium bitterness in a dry finish and a somewhat bitter aftertaste. PALATE: medium-low body with medium-high carbonation. smooth alcohol warmth. OVERALL: a golden belgian ale with more interesting aromas that flavours.

Ljust halmgul vätska med tjock vitt skum. Första sniffen - helt klart skumbanan. Andra inandningen - gröna örter. Stor och söt maltkropp. Lite för söt.

Aroma: sweet fruit, berries and yeast. Flavour: round sweet fruit with some bitterness and a sour finish and little yeast. Color: amber with a white head. From: eurospar en Fuerteventura 021114 (by far the best beer I had on the island)

Alken-Maes’ reaction to Duvel, with which it is notoriously hard to compete. Snow white head, orange blonde colour; sweetish malt character, some equally sweetish fruitiness, spicy notes, mild grassy hop bitterishness and warming alcohol in the finish. Less complex than many of its congeners and to much to the sweet side, but not bad after all.
