Sampled at the Hopsnobbery Collective Stout tasting on 01/16/09. This Imperial Stout pours solid black with a medium fluffy dark beige head that dissipates slowly. Top ring of lacing with spots underneath. Bold coffee and hops in the nose along with a bit of malt. Rich, dry body with an assertively hoppy character, and flavors of espresso and roasted malt behind it. Alcohol shines through pretty well too. The finish is moderately bitter coffee and hops that lingers. Overall a good beer and an interesting counterpoint to the Surly Darkness from earlier in the evening, highlighting how varied this style can really be.

Courtesy of sebletitje. 2008 vintage pours deep black with nice mocha head. The aroma is dark roasted malts, hints of raisins, burnt malts, faint olive brine, molasses and a leafy hop vegetable note. The mouth feel is somewhat thin to begin but gets creamy into the finish. The taste begins with faint olive brine, over dry hopped vegetable notes and a mild cherry hard candy sensation. It then moves into rich chocolate, burnt malts and lingering bitter hoppiness. Not nearly as hoppy as I was expecting and certainly tastier too.

courtesy of BA trader. Pours black, brownish head. Aroma is malty with some nice roastiness. Taste, hoppy and malty with chocolate, coffee. I found the beer to have a lot of hops, but the overall mouthfeel remained highly enjoyable. I would drink this one again, under the banner of Jolly Roger.

Bottle: Sat on this about a year before it donned on me to try it... Black pour with a finger of creamy brown head. Tons of sticky lacing. Nice roasty aroma with a little bit of coffee. Some light cocoa. Ultra smooth and creamy feel with an intense roasted malt flavor. A sweet cocoa with a little coffee feel into some light bitters. Perhaps a tiny amount of smoke. Nice, but more focus on the roast than I care for.

Black colour. Aroma of roasted malts hints on what is coming: flavours of smack in your face agressive malts, along with bitter coffee and chocolate. Nice bitter finish. Great stuff!

Black with rather large deep beige head. Not that sweet aroma with plenty of hard roasted malt, coffee and chocolate notes. Flavour has hard roasted malt, dark bitter chocolate and hops that gives it a bitter finish. Like it for not beeing cloying sweet.

Bottle thanks to zathrus13. Pours a thick black with a creamy light brown head that leaves lots of lacing. Aroma of strong alcohol, chocolate, vanilla some wood and more alcohol. Taste is coffee, alcohol, and wood. Syrupy mouthfeel lots of alcohol on the palate with light bubbles. Should age well.

Bottled. Poured a dark color with a huge frothy brownish head. Aroma is heavily malted, roasted, some hop, coffee, licorice. Quite strong and thick in aroma. Very thick taste, huge amount of malts, licorice, slight bitter. Some alcohol burn in the finish. Very strong and powerful....and I like it!

The most interesting of the beers from BückDich. Thanks a bunch. Black with a full tan head. Roasted, malty, earth, vanilla, herbal pine hops, and alcohol in the aroma. Bam! Hops. I can’t believe how hoppy this is. Very bitter, earthy hops, roasted malts, bittersweet cocoa. More like a dark DIPA than an imperial stout. But, who cares about style, this was an awesome brew that I’d love to have more of.
