Pours amber with a thin frothy white head. Aroma of pine. Taste has hoppy resin. Palate has some wine must, more oaky elements, vaguely sickly sweet. Eh.

12 fl oz can. Pours hazy dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is roasted malty and breadish. Sweet and caramelish. Breadish and toasted malty. Dry, roasted and dark malty. Mild overripe fruity note into the finish.

Bottle thanks to Team Boston. Pours a dark amber with small off white head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is strong toffee, caramel, dark fruit, bourbon. Thick mouth, candy sugar, raisin, bourbon, vanilla, very good.

2013 bottle. Pours mahogany into a tulip. Off-white head with medium retention recedes to mottle surface. Vanilla, oak and bourbon. Soft with sweet bourbon and vanilla upfront turning midly sour in the lasting bitter finish.

10 oz. snifter @ Portsmouth Gas Light Co. Deep Crimson color with slow diminishing head. Aroma is pretty nice, light bourbon on top of brown sugar, vanilla and alcohol soaked raisins.

The taste is sweet, boozy and decadent. Bourbon nauances sitting on top vinous notes, vanilla bean, and oak tannins with a syrupy texture. A bit of chocolate hints in the backend as it warms. Medium body with a sweet and woody /oaky finish. Nice light warming sensation after the sip. The Gas Light Co. is really stepping up their tap list in a big way, lots of solid offering on the Street level! This was a treat to get without having to drive to Portland.

Rcvd in trade.
The appearance has a dark brown colored body with a thin half fingered white foamy head that dies leaving a thin film of a head. The lacing is thin and sticks to the sides of the glass at the top of the body and ends up just sliding with the sips.
The smell has a super strong bourbon up front with some plums and raisins to combine along with some caramels and toffee. There is that element of tobacco in the aroma.
The taste is super sweet and becomes slightly spicy and leads into a dry raisinous bourbon-like aftertaste with a sticky sweet bourbon finish.
On the palate, it sits about a medium to heavy, not sessionable - meant to sip, and has a carbonation that is fairly smooth and is good for the style and for me.
Overall, this is a good American Barleywine aged in bourbon barrels - well, its exactly what Sebago was looking to do, in my opinion, this is pretty good and worth a try, but will say not as hoppy as some American Barleywines I’ve had and yes I realize this could be for the fact that this is from 2013.

Pours with an amber body that exhibits copper edges and a tiny white head. The big aroma offers up fresh oak and a modest degree of bourbon rolling into sharp booze notes. The taste is rich with a sweet mix of dark fruity esters, pine hop flavor, some grapefruit hop flavor and then moving into fairly smooth bourbon notes. Wow, this is rich, bold and smooth and with a terrific balance between beer and barrel notes. Interesting, lots of oak in the nose but not so much in the flavor. One of the better done barrel aged American style barleywines I’ve had.

66cl bottle sample @ RBBWG 2013, courtesy of ThirstyBird.
