33 cL clear bottle huge thanks to Grovlam for providing me with another country. Pours deep brown with a lacing off-white head. Dark toffee, coffee and caramel aroma. Medium body and soft mouthfeel. Flavour is dark caramel, some bread like notes. Goes acidic to bitter into a dry and slight malt roasted finish.

Can Deep brown to black body. Off-white creamy head. Sweetish aroma, a little bit caramel. Quite sweet, very watery flavour. Lacks any complexity and it is even badly balanced. Not undrinkable, but certainly not pleasant.

Chocolate and raisin aroma, but also noticeable are rubber and feet. Color is between dark tea and light cola, with a medium head. Initial taste is briefly soy sauce and then smoke. Finish is bark and hops. Rather distinctive, but not great.

Dark caramel brown. Sweet, caramel and datelike aroma. Very rich, datelike and figgy. Slightly syrupy with a bit of alcohol to cut this. Interesting take on the concept - good example.

Can. Could be a pleasant surprise this one, as I wouldn’t expect a dark beer from Turkey. It looks quite nice, clear, copper-colored and with a nice beige head. The aroma on the other hand is boring and industrial, with grain, hay and some caramel. The flavor isn’t much better, malty and grainy as it is, with some roasted notes as well. Thin to medium body and a grainy, lightly roasted finish. Definately not worth sampling again. (070213)

If you’re drinking regularly when in Turkey then this would be my suggested beer of choice. I was only ever able to find this in bottle but fortunately I was able to find it in the vast majority of bars in Istanbul. Pours dark brown with a lively head initially that soon subsides. Aroma was mostly of malt, little else detected. There was a continuing soft carbonation to each mouthful but this didn’t particularly detract from what was a nice, tasty beer some raisiny flavours, maybe a slight hint of liquorice, the maltiness was e=ver present, but the one interesting thing for me was that this really didn’t come across as a 6.1% beer and as such was very easy drinking. Not bad at all.

Small white head; dark red body with ongoing carbonation. Faint paper aroma. Dry, roasty taste with licorice notes. Very faint taste. Dry aftertaste. Could be worse, but is definitely boring. (0.33l bottle.)
