The jewel in our crown was celebrated, many years in advance, by the prescient Jem Casey, Poet of the Pick and Bard of Booterstown, when he remarked that when “…no rashers grease your pan / A pint of plain is yer only man.” We agree and we’re not alone. Our Plain Porter – porter is a lighter version of stout – is a double gold medal winner. Its subtly aromatic, a silky, round mouthful with a touch of bitterness kicking in at the finish.

330ml bottle @home. Bruna, intensa, schiuma avorio media. Al naso note di zucchero di canna, toffee, tostato, leggero caffè. In bocca è morbida, equilibrata, con chiusura amara pulita e secca. Corpo leggero, carbonazione media. Sempre un gran bel bere.

Thin light brown head left a spotty cover on a dark mahogany coloured still body. Malt & dark chocolate aroma. Medium bodied, smooth with a tingle down the throat. Malt, cigarettes, burnt, roasted & nutty tastes with light fruit finish. Nice one.

7th Sep 2019, half-pint in the Porthouse, Temple Bar, Dublin. Decent enough Porter, made the mistake of having alongside their excellent Oyster Stout, so this seemed a little weak and watery compared to that. Nothing wrong with this though, plenty of chocolate maltiness to chew on.

Tasted in Dublin, june 2001. Coffee, roasted malt and liqorice in the fine taste of this thinnish beer. For a porter very easy to drink.

Draft at the Porterhouse Bar in Dublin Dark brown bordering on black but some light still gets through. Rich caramel and light chocolate maltiness with bits of roast and licorice. Pretty stand up English style porter.
