We brewed this ale with the famous sake yeast No 7 from Masumi Sake in Nagano, Japan. On advise from Masumi’s master brewers, we fermented this ale very slowly at low temperatures to bring out No 7’s fabulously fruity character. This product is unfiltered and unpasteurized. Please enjoy chilled! Special thanks to Masumi!

Sweet, syrupy and stuffy with some berries, hints of oxidized notes, earthiness and caramely toffee. Past its prime

Backlog October 2014. Slightly unclear deep orange body with a small off-white head. Aroma is fruity with malt, toffee. A bit vinous with both dry fruit and red berries. Flavor is sweet and fruity with ripe fruit, malt, toffee and warming alcohol, the bitterness feels moderate even at 100 IBU. Fine body and long lasting, quite sweet aftertaste. A slightly unusual and complex beer. This was a part of a vertical tasting of Red Horizon 1,2 and 3 made in 2014. Our bottle of #1 was off so I’m using a previous rating for this. Comparing #2 and #3 I prefer # 3 even if # 2 has a better aroma. # 3 feels more complex in taste and seems to balance the sweetness better.

Bottle at the mondiale 2014. Dark murky brown pour, with a light brown head. Aroma of booze, its the first thing that hit me. Lots more going on though, thick chewy malts, charred caramel malts, brown sugar, hard liquor aromas like sherry, and rhum. Lots of fruity esters, some stone fruits and the faintest of citrus aromas. The mouth feel is very thick and viscous, and the carb is super soft. The finish is super sweet, boozy and it manages to get even sweeter. This is the definition of extreme beer. This is over the top, and frankly too much and not worth the price. Interesting, but nothing more.

I found this in my beer cellar a couple of weeks ago. Brewed in 2011 and BF 2016. Vinous with no head. Interesting with dried fruit, wood, some toffee, light berries, Port Wine and hints of smoke. Very well hidden alcohol. Not fantastic but tasty.
