Cheap supermarket lager, in this case for Carrefour, brewed at Bavaria. From a rather dull 50 cl can. Moussy, regular, ’dirty’ white head of medium size sitting on top of a cristal clear, pure golden blonde beer with fierce sparkling. Aroma of sugar corn, damp cloth, iron, sugarloaf, faint hints of industrial apple juice, sweaty grains, banana candy and melting plastic. Spritzy onset as expected, somewhat souring carbonation, sweet graininess, corn slickness, lightly oily but otherwise thin mouthfeel, clearly metallic with a thin, watery, neutral finish only showing a brief, elusive floral hop bitter accent. Boring, corn-like, insufficiently hopped, grainy and metallic ’macro lager’, as expected, and like there are countless other ones in Europe alone.

50cl can from Carrefour Express in Firenze. Pours clear pale golden with a fast dissipating, small, white head. Quite the usual pale industrial lager - somewhat grainy aroma with notes of cooked vegetables, hints of honey, ripe fruits and hops too. Sweet, grainy and watery with mild flavours and a very mild bitterness. Drinkable if not much other options, but would not like to try it again.

Can from Carrefour, Nice. Pale gold, no head. Not as weak as British supermarket lagers which is my only comparison, but it’s strength does give it a fairly decent mouthfeel, but otherwise it’s very bland.

Can. Light golden with small white head. Light grains with some light herbal touches of hay and straw. Very light hops. Quite crappy cheap lager, the best thing about it is that it barely has any taste, but there's nothing offensive either.

50 cl. can @ home, bought somewhere in Belgium. Bought as lager blonde but this is the same beer. Another one of H.West (Bavaria) budget lagers and as most of these not terribly bad but boring as hell. Grainy and thin but relatively clean tasting.

50 cl. can @ home from Carrefour. No mention of this being “Premium”. Can only says “Lager Blond” with no mention of the brewery. Since there is no entry for a beer with such a name & the abv and the label matches (identical to the one here minus the premium addition), I will assume that my beer is the same as this one. Served ice, ice cold. Pours touch darker apple golden with quickly gone soapy white head, visible high carbonation. Sweet corn and grains nose, musty old grains and nasty pale lager corn with some artificial sweetener-like notes. Taste is definitely better; mineral, slightly watery upfront with some grains, there is an almost salty quality to it, faint apple and corn sweetness, finishes with brief potato starch and corn syrup sweetness. Sparkling, light and watery body. Not that bad considering what it is. Might even take this over some of the big brands, not that I am a fan of pale lagers.

Can from a Carrefour in the Marais. Pours brassy gold with a foamy white head. Aroma is lightly bready with hints of what might be noble hop. A bit thin. Flavor is surprisingly hoppy (grassy) with some bready malt. In the states this could be lawnmower beer. If it’s the only choice, fear not.
