Backlog September 2011. Dark brown, almost black body under a small, fading beige head. Aroma is nice but feels very sweet in a way with soy souse, bouillon and alcohol. Taste is sweet, dark malt, dry fruit, soy souse and warming alcohol. Fine body with long lasting aftertaste. Actually, a lot better than it might seem to this description.

Bottiglia.

Bottle, purchased in Genoa, Italy. This is a balanced imperial stout with moderate roasted malt flavors, some coffee, and chocolate. I think I taste some lactose and would describe it as medium-sweet. Thin, lacing head in the glass. One of the better Italian beer I found in Northern Italy.

Bottle shared by John, thanks! Pours near black with a brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has earthy dark grains and light roast with chocolate and coffee supporting. Flavor has chocolate and dark grains and roasted malts with a bit of coffee underlying.

Bottle from Eataly, Genoa, consumed at home Tuesday 14th February 2017 (a departure from the norm’, sees us drinking on a Tuesday night, oops) Black as yer ’at, tangy dark fruits, a little prune but is good. Like it because it’s not too cloyingly sweet and it’s not OTT. Nice stuff. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.5

Pours nice inky black with a thin layer of foam around the edges. Aroma is intriguing - roasty but with fruity/berry aromas. Has some berry vinegar/balsamico notes. Flavour is rich and roasty, also sweet and quite heavy. Not very bitter. Finishes sweet and rich and a little warming. Nice.

330mL bottle, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma brings out lots of leather, red wine, and balsamic -- doesn't smell like an imperial stout. Flavour brings out a mix of bitter molasses, licorice, some red wine, a little leather and balsamic. Finishes with cola and soy sauce. A lot different to typical North American impie stout. Intriguing, but not particularly impressive. Not so good.
