La Penneffoise’s colour is mix of red and dark brown. Aroma is sweet and fruitfull and maybe I find some alcohol from the backgrond. Flavour is first sweet and like juicy but it changes quickly to more dry, malty and slightly roast and juiciness is not bother anymore. Medium carbonation with medium body makes La Pennefoise nice to drink. Pleasant and "honest" fruitbeer.

Bottled. Deep brown colour, mediumsized brown head. Aroma is alcohol, spices, caramel and some burnt wood. Flavour is quite much the same with some fruits along. OK, but nothing very outstanding.

750 ml bottle. Super sweet beer that could substitute for dessert. Cloudy amber pour with one finger of off-white head. The aroma is sweet and malty with hints of fruit, especially plum or prune though the aroma (and flavor for that matter) is not pronounced. The flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic and lightly bitter. Medium body with a mildly sticky texture. Fairly straightforward, but enjoyable.

Very girlie beer with a pink label and the first beer I’ve had with synthetic cork. Dark ruby-brown color, big cloudy off-white head, good lacing. Aroma has prunes, licorice and iron. overall quite sweet nose. Sweetish beer: dark fruits (prunes, dates), and candy sugar. Alcohol raises up in the finish leading to sweetish aftertaste. Well-brewed, rounded beer, but a bit boring. Sweetness indicates that this might have some cellaring potential.

Bottle picked up at The Little Beer Shop, Ludlow, Salop. Deep amber in colour with frothy head, aroma was sweet and malty, taste was also quite sweet, malty and fruity although there was little in the way of plums noticed in the taste which had a little sourness on the edge, if truth be known I rather liked this it was a very reasonable beer even if I didn’t get the plums or prunes.

Bottled at Horsens Beerfestival. Unclear, orange-golden beer with a small, beige head. Spices, caramel and sugar in the aroma. The flavor is sweet, with roasted notes, caramel and spices. Medium to full body. A quite quaffable beer. (061028)
