Tap at Oud Arsenaal, Antwerpen: Amber looks and a great array of spices, hints of fruits and chocolate/caramel.

Bottle @ home. Amber color. Yeast, pineapple and vegetable aroma. Yeasty cellar flavor, sulphury with some tropical fruit. Home brew like and disappointing, but gets a little better in the aftertaste.

Recent beer from Boelens brewery in the Waasland region in the northeast of Flanders, with off-white, thick, mushy foam, caught in the glass after spectacular gushing; colour a misty peach blonde with vivid sparkling. Very nutty aroma with dried fruits, grapefruit, gooseberry, bourbon, jute, sour cream, green apples, leather, sweat... Taste kicks off with a sharp citrussy acidity as well as a lactic acidity probably from the infection which caused the gushing; further apply, nutty malts, but the sourness accompanies the whole palate resulting in a somewhat astringent mouthfeel, some flowery hops in the aroma but no real bitterness. Flawed and lightly infected - as I’ve experienced with most Boelens brews - and out of balance, did not enjoy this.

33cl bottle. Thanks Tderoeck for the share. Gusher.

Note: GUSHER warning!

Cloudy red brown beer, big aery off-white head, unstable. Aroma: oranges, very fruity, sugary, bit musty. MF: low to no carbon, medium body, very creamy soft texture. Taste: bit sweet, orange, ice cream, vanilla, some spices, cloves, coriander, more vanilla. Aftertaste: sweet dough, cinnamon. Not bad at all! And yeah, I know, it's probably because of the age, but hey, who cares, right?

Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of Pinball. Pours a cloudy olive brownish/greenish with a rough off-white head. Fruity nose, a slight yeastiness. Light body, a slight tartness, fruiti, citric tart that is. Some Belgian yeast and phenols. Hardly any bitterness. 030711
