Bottle - Old - Toffee, caramel and quite oxidized. Clearish copper with almost no head. Thin, soy sauce and a little sour.

500ml bottle at Erik's. Pours a hazy brown with a weak head. Aroma is very fruity with some oak notes. Taste is harsh, very fruity, almost no body, though. It is strange.

9 year old bottle, pours a deep dark vinegary dark red with a tiny white head. Nose is almost nothing but oxidation, with loads of balsamic and not much else. Flavour is pure oxidation, with balsamic, wood, and cardboard. Very unpleasant - thanks for the wonderfully barrel aged beer, Alex.

Bouteille50cl, lot#0943, bottle #0850. Terrible wax coating, gimmicky and more annoying than anything else.

Bottle shared @ Animal. Light brown colour without head. Aroma has menthol notes, dry fruits, fruity, raisins and sweet wine. Flavor is sweet, with good presence in the mouth, rounded, notes of grapes and very sweet wine, creamy sensation, plumbcake. The final is sweet, with notes of grapes, cookies and plumbcake.

Amber colour, no head. Aroma of tangerine, oranges, madeira, citrus, raisins, zest and alcohol. The grappa comes through as it warms up. Light bitter flavour, somewhat sweet, raisins, malts, wheat touch. Relatively thin body. Finish orange peel and raisins, with some alcohol in the back.
Utterly beautiful bottle & box design. Lovely. The beer itself disappoints a bit in comparison.
(From 66cL bottle at the DMT @ Tim’s living, Gent. Bottle 0845, lotto 09045. Shared by Klaas. Thanks!!)

#1700 // Thx. to Klaas for this one // 50 cl. bottle sampled @ Tim’s De Molen & assorted beers tasting // bottle nr. 0845 // def. one I have been wanting to try // the packaging on this one is incredible, possibly a tad too much & probably jacked-up the price a lot but still I was really loving it // packaged in a shiny black cardboard box with in golden letter the logo of the brewery, like classier strong spirit // the bottle itself looks like a 16th century wine bottle or expensive strong liquor perhaps // total wine-cork, 16th century looking wax on top of it & a string, wonderful bottle design, clear bottle // man, this was something really // as far the beer itself goes, it seems to be suffering from some identity issues, it is like they tried making hard liquor and didn’t quite managed to, the liquid inside this bottle seems to be wanting to really not be a beer but something else // I sort of get what they were going with this beer but I don’t feel like they entirely managed, it is cute & I can love it but this is not really what they had in mind I feel // pours nearly still bright ruby amber reddish with basically no head // nose is sweet and oxidized (possibly on purpose, possibly due to the barrel aging), sweet malts, light alcoholic spirit (grappa, I assume) with herbs, oranges, fruits, brown sugar, caramel & fruits // taste is sweet fruits, same oxidation & spirit are clearly present, as mentioned before it is almost like this is trying to become a spirit, caramel malts, light honey, sweet, touch brown sugar and herbs, light wood, toffee & light cake. Oxidized & nearly flat body. Sort of didn’t work out but there are things to love, not if you had to cough up the full price I assume. I still sort of feel the urge to drink this & it is memorable.

30/XII/12 - 50cl bottle from Geers (Oostakker) @ home: De Molen & assorted beers tasting - BB: 2025 - bottle # 0845 (2012-1427) Thanks to Klaas for sharing the bottle!
Clear deep orange to red beer, no head. Aroma: ltos of oranges, mandarins, orange zest, sugary, bit oxidized, some spices. MF: no carbon, medium body. Taste: sourish start, some citrus, bitter touch, oranges, orange peel, mandarins. Aftertaste: little bitter, oranges, bitter touch, some spices, sour, bit lemony. Not really great, definitely not a barley wine.

Stopped regular rating 22nd Oct 2012 picked this up at Dranken Geers, Oostakker, nr Gent, consumed at Scotts (brother) 22 December 2012 Pours hazy murky light brown with a liberal scattering of fine wax that ended up in here. I have to say I was not overly impressed with this beer it wasn’t bad but it was no world beater. Flat, sweet it is not exciting in fact can’t be bothred to rate. A5 A3 T7 P3 Ov11 2.7
