Bottled. A pitch black beer with a huge dark brown head. The aroma has notes of caramel, malt, alcohol, and some bread. The flavor is very sweet with notes of roasted malt, caramel, bread, alcohol, and some herbs, leading to a dry alcoholic finish.

--- 750 ml bottle got in a trade with HOPSHUNTER. Pours a cloudy brown color with a small beige head that soon fades to a fine ring. This style isn’t really my favorite style, this though, is for sure in the upper tier. The flavors are caramel, toffee and molasses. A hint of some fruitier notes, dark fruit, a date or fig?? Reminds me of a Wee Heavy. The 8.5 ABV is noticeable in the Nose and taste but for me doesn’t take anything anyway from my enjoyment. Nice brew!

Sample at the tap room. The beer pours dark brown with a medium tan head that dissipates slowly to a film. Rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel malt, toffee and earth. Medium body with flavors of toasted malt, coffee, tobacco and some dark fruit. The finish is peaty malt with a lingering mild coffee aftertaste. Solid brew all around.

A dark reddish brown ale with a thin receding brown head. In aroma, chocolate, soy sauce, torrefied coffee, and burned caramel. In mouth, a sweet burned caramel, yeaty notes, coffee in final, nice, sweet and smooth. Bomber shared with Probstk, GRM, Mike H and Ian G, June 5 2011.

Tasting at Papsø
Cloudy brown color. Common aroma, some caramel and chocolate, mild, light alcohol. Ordinary body, with some chocolate flavor, a bit dusty, and showing a bit too much the alcohol. Ordinary bitterness. Boring caramel/chocolate beer.

750ml bottle. Awesome appearance. Thick, glowing brown-red, with a creamy beige head. The aroma is rather brutal, bringing to mind old school Barleywines and a woody, alcohol laced Amber malt. Hmm,,,unfortunately I’d say this one is beginning to go downhill, kickin myself for sitting on it. Cherry, mild smoke, and some pungent sweetness. Big fruity Ale yeast tones, not unlike an amped up McEwans. I think it has soured more than intended. Rather disappointing.

Bottle thanks to Beerlando! Poured a hazy dark brown with a gray brown head that lasted throughout the beer. Aroma is sweet with grains and toffee and underlying spice and dark fruits. Flavor is similar with sweet grains and toffee with a dark fruit finish and spice underlying. The aftertaste was a bit unsettling.
