Saison Rue is an unfiltered, bottle conditioned, Belgian/French-style farmhouse ale. This is a beer of subtlety and complexity, with malted rye, spicy, fruity yeast notes, biscuit-like malt backbone and a slight citrus hop character. With age, this beer will dry out and will become more complex with rustic notes of leather and earth from the contribution of a wild yeast strain. Being a saison, Saison Rue is ambiguous unto itself as it is a different beer when fresh and when aged.

Wondefully clean and very tart. The rye is mild but clear that it is key in the malt bill. Medium body, which doesn't usually work as awesome for a sour. Great beer. Sobeys Saskatoon

Pours unclear, darker blonde to amber. Big white head. Smell is mildly phenolic, mild funk. Taste is tart, oak ( at least vanilla ) mild brett funk ( amping up the perceived 'woodyness' . Good mf and carbo. Some saison-typical phenols. Nice.

Bottle, 750 ml, from Beergium. Shared with rest of the crew. Dark hazy golden, large white head. Starts with metallic aroma which disappears afterwards. Spicy, light sweetness, malty, fruity, nice funkiness, dry finish. Medium sourness. Too much carbonation. Medium bodied.

Bottled:
A gusher. Dark orange with a small but thick head. Sourish gooseberry aroma. Sourish taste with notes of gooseberries, wheat, and hops leading to a warming alcohol finish.
