85,000 bottles of Vintage Ale were produced with an organic theme, using Champion Optic Malt and Organic Target Hops. A fresh hop aroma with notes of honey and toffee, leads to a slightly sweeter taste and burnt, bitter aftertaste.

Bottle. # 03608. Pours a slightly hazy amber colour with an off-white head. Malty fruity slightly alcoholic aroma, with hints of caramel. Sweet warming malty dark fruit flavor. Warming malty finish.

Bottle #38843. Poured a murky copper amber with ruby a thick creamy off white head. Very unique hop aroma, not heavy or overpowering, but slightly citrus, slightly floral and appealing. Syrupy with a fair amount of heat on the palate. Initial flavor is fruity, like apricots and orange with a brown sugar and maple finish. Hints of whiskey and brandy. Awesome flavor. Great beer, one of a kind.

Botte at Kookfest 06. My favourite of the series. Hazy deep chestnut, lasting beige head. Hoppy but not as much as the 2001. Lovely creamy texture, quite harsh on end. Still intense and almost overpowering. Honeyish, bit of whisky. Great hop.

Forgot to write the # down but just found a few bottles of this at a random beer store. Definitely lasted though. Aroma is very present - strong butterscotch. Taste is similar with an airy finish. Its good stuff, glad I have some more. Rerate: such a strong carmalized butterscotch aroma. Some barleywine-like aroma behind that aswell.

Bottle: Poured a deep clear brown color ale with a medium off-white bubbly head with average retention. Aroma of figs and dry raisins is quite enjoyable. Taste is also dominated by the figs and the dry raisins with some strong malt. What I thought was surprising what the piney and citrusy ending courtesy of too many hops IMHO for this type of beer. Body is above average but could be more consistent and carbonation is also above average. Good but I would say not as good as the previous vintage years I had the luck of drinking.

(Bottle 50 cl) Dark amber with a thick, creamy, off-white head leaving a pretty lacework. Vinous nose with lots of alcohol. Full-bodied, sherry notes and a touch of overripe fruit. Underneath everything is a pleasant, warming alcohol. Dry, lightly bitter finish. Another grand vintage ale from Fullers. 231005

[Sampled December 6, 2003] The aroma is sweet and fruity with notes of berries especially cowberries. The color is orange/red and it has a beutiful beige head. The flavor is lovely sweet malty with notes of fruit and cowberries. The alcohol runs prickling over the tongue. A very nice beer. After having tried 5 different vintages over the course of 2 months, I'll conclude, that this beer has to age for atleast 2 years and will keep the high quality up to atleast 6 years of age.

Aroma of wood and smoke. Appearance is cloudy brown, with a medium sized but thin head. Very sweet at room temperature. Flavors of tobacco, wood, and bread. Very heavy. Powerful mouthfeel, malty, liquorice, caramel, light wallnuts.
Long finish, bearing both hop bitterness and bitter maltiness (and liquorice, and light litchie fruitness).
Wonderful. Would like to taste it in another couple of years.

(Bottle # 40697) I had high hopes for my first Fullers Vintage Ale, but was profoundly disappointed. Everything started nicely; the beer poured a rich amber color with a creamy tan head, and the aroma was of bready malts, caramel, and a hint of cider. Flavor was initially light candied fruit, caramel, and light alcohol notes. Over time, the alcohol became very strong, to the point that this beer would have been better served in a shotglass. A very bitter, astringent, throat-burning alcohol aftertaste dominated the palate after a few ounces. I am surprised to see this is only 8.5% ABV, as Vintage 2000 became very difficult to drink. By far the most poorly masked alcohol in a beer I've ever tasted.
