Bottle at the Bayou. Pours a mostly clear golden/copper hue with a medium white head. A big sweaty nose with some funk. The flavor is a bit thin, some lemon, more dusty funk, light sourness, decent.

On tap at Apex, pours a clear golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma of Belgian yeast, pepper, some spices and apples. Flavour brings out apples upfront, Belgian yeast and some muted spicy notes. Well-balanced and a bit unorthodox. Not the greatest, but still decent.

Bottle labeled "Reinaert wild ale" at The Bayou
Appearance: Cloudy golden/amber with a small off-white head, some lacing
Aroma: Wet blanket, saw dust and fruity
Taste: Wet dog, saw dust and spices
It was OK, but I didn’t like this one

Whole Foods, Bowery 11.2oz ($5): Pours hazy orange with a white head. Aroma is slightly that of a sour ale, except with a good amount of more malt, along with some juicy smells. Taste is slightly sour. It is also a tad bit spicy. A wee bit sweet. Doesn’t really taste like a wild ale or sour ale. It isn’t bad, but it isn’t really too impressive. It seems like it doesn’t know where it wants to go and what it wants to be.

At the Co-Op via Shelton. Enjoyed at 60F in a wine glass
A - Bright golden with a 3 finger fluffy white head. Very sticky lacing.
S - Mild brettanomyces funk on the nose. Apples and oak as well.
T - Taste is mild peppercorn and cloves, apples and pears with lovely brett dry funk finish. I’m getting some banana runts in here but not much.
M - Medium body, lovely pillow like carbonation and seems to last forever
O - Great beer. Solid and drinkable.

Very palatable for Flemish wild - makes sense when I see it categorized as a Belgian strong here. Very well-balanced - too balanced for a wild ale. Pours hazy blond. Smells of brett. This gives me a better sense of what sacc is supposed to taste like. Very little sourness here. - aftertaste just comes off floral more than anything. Good head, light carbonation. Some boozy bitterness in finish.

750 ml bottle into tulip glass; no bottle dating. Pours lightly hazy and cloudy golden amber color with a nice 2-3 finger dense white head with incredible retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Some nice thick foamy lacing clings to the glass. Aromas of big pear, tart apple, grape, pepper, lemon, earth, herbal, floral, clove, grass, hay, and light yeast funkiness. Nice aromas with good complexity and decent balance. Taste of pear, tart apple, grape, lemon, pepper, clove, herbal, grass, hay, earth, light funk, and yeast spiciness. Lightly tart earthiness on the finish; with lingering notes of light fruits, citrus, pepper, clove, grass, herbal, earth, funk, and yeast spiciness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice flavor balance and complexity; nice fruity/peppery flavor balance; zero cloying flavors noticed after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a lightly slick, very crisp, and prickly mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is extremely well hidden with almost no warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very nice Belgian pale wild ale. Nice flavor complexity and balance; very smooth and easy to sip on for 9%. I enjoyed this offering quite a bit.

21/07 RBESG Grand Tasting, 0.75 l bottle, Surly Bird label (don’t know why those are not listed different when lesser variations from Scandinavian breweries are separated). It poured hazy pale yellow body with a medium sized head. Apple and vanilla aroma, light citrus hops. Sweetish flavor, slightly sour, mostly vanilla and biscuit malty with of course noticeable citrus hops. Medium bodied with bitter and acidic hop finish. My notes said not enough sour for a decent sour ale, well they apparently didn’t aim at that anyway. Pleasant, but a bit simple.
